The World of Greyhawk and Its NPCs
The World of Greyhawk is a vast and varied realm, filled with regions rich in history, mystery, and adventure. Towns like Saltmarsh, perched along the Azure Sea, serve as key crossroads where adventurers encounter a vibrant cast of NPCs, each with their own role to play in the unfolding story.
NPCs are the lifeblood of Greyhawk, bringing the world to life with their distinct personalities, ambitions, and ties to the land’s storied past. From seasoned warriors guarding the wild frontiers to crafty merchants and reclusive sages, each NPC adds layers of intrigue and narrative depth to the setting.
In Legends of Saltmarsh, key NPCs drive the story forward as allies, adversaries, or sources of vital information. While primary NPCs are detailed in this section, minor or location-specific NPCs will be included under the relevant location entries, organized in dedicated NPC subsections. Together, they create a living world where every interaction shapes the adventure.
The NPCs featured in Ghosts of Saltmarsh are listed below.
Additional NPCs, unique to the expanded campaign and setting, can be found within their respective location entries.
NPCs are organized by Town Council, faction, and location.
Note on Factions:
Some NPCs are not initially aligned with any faction. Their loyalties may shift over time depending on the events that unfold in Saltmarsh. Determine their allegiance dynamically based on player actions or evolving village politics.
Keep in mind that certain NPCs may straddle multiple factions—for example, Traditionalists who also collaborate with smugglers or pirates.
