The Creation of Eldranis

Primordial Epoch

In the time before time, there existed only the Eternal Void—a vast expanse of nothingness. Out of this void emerged three primordial entities, each embodying a fundamental aspect of existence: Aurelios, the Lightbringer, Noctyra, the Shadowweaver, and Galdrim, the Earthshaper.

  • Aurelios represented creation, life, and order.

  • Noctyra embodied shadows, destruction, death, and the potential of chaos.

  • Galdrim was the force of the earth itself, representing stability, endurance, and the physical world.

The three beings existed in a delicate balance, each respecting the other’s domain. They desired to fill the emptiness around them with something that could grow, evolve, and worship them.

Birth of Eldranis

The Convergence of Powers

In a rare moment of unity, Aurelios, Noctyra, and Galdrim combined their powers to create a world that embodied all their aspects. Aurelios provided the spark of life and the laws governing the world. Noctyra infused it with shadows and the potential for change. Galdrim formed the physical structure—the land, the seas, and the mountains.

As their powers converged, the land of Eldranis was born—a world of contrasts and harmony. The massive continent of Orethar was the first to emerge, followed by three smaller continents and islands, each reflecting the nature of their creators.

The Purpose of Creation

Eldranis was a divine experiment, with each god having unique reasons for its creation:

  • Aurelios sought to create a world where order and civilization could flourish.

  • Noctyra saw Eldranis as a crucible, a place for life to struggle and change.

  • Galdrim wanted to see whether life could endure and thrive in the face of time and the elements.

Age of Creation

The Birth of the First Races

The gods populated Eldranis with various races:

  • The Elves were children of Aurelios, imbued with an affinity for order, magic, and knowledge.

  • The Dwarves were crafted by Galdrim, with the strength and resilience to endure the world's harshest conditions.

  • Humans were a blend of all three divine influences, possessing adaptability, ambition, and the potential for both great creation and great destruction.

  • Other races, such as the Nagaji, Gnolls, and Fey, emerged from the mingling of divine energies.

The World of Balance

Eldranis was designed as a world where the forces of light, shadow, and earth constantly interacted. The gods occasionally intervened, guiding or challenging the inhabitants to see if they could maintain the balance. Some inhabitants upheld the balance, while others sought to tip the scales, leading to conflicts and wars.

The Eternal Watch

Eventually, Aurelios, Noctyra, and Galdrim withdrew from direct involvement, content to observe Eldranis from afar. They left behind divine avatars, ancient artifacts, and secret places of power, allowing mortals to determine their own fate.

The Nihilith Invasion

The Rise of the Nihilith

In the farthest reaches of the multiverse lay the Abyssal Rift, a chaotic realm that gave birth to the Nihilith, malevolent entities thriving on chaos and destruction. They sought to corrupt vibrant worlds, transforming them into twisted reflections of the Abyssal Rift.

During the early days of Eldranis, the Nihilith detected the convergence of divine energy and were drawn to it. They emerged from the Abyssal Rift, crashing into Eldranis and bringing corruption and destruction. The Shattered Isles, once a prosperous part of Orethar, were particularly affected.

The Divine Response

The gods responded by creating the Celestial Wardens, divine warriors forged from their essence to counter the Nihilith. In a series of epic battles, the Wardens pushed back the Nihilith, sealing their portals and purging the corruption.

The battle between Galdrim and the Nihilith leader, Zal’kathor, the Unraveler, culminated in Galdrim's sacrifice. He channeled his essence into the earth, imprisoning Zal’kathor within the core of the Shattered Isles. This act bound Galdrim to Eldranis, his consciousness becoming one with the land.

The Aftermath

With Zal’kathor imprisoned, the Celestial Wardens took up an eternal vigil, establishing sanctuaries and watchtowers across Eldranis. The gods, diminished by the loss of Galdrim, withdrew further, leaving behind relics of power known as the Seals of Galdrim. These relics serve as both a source of protection and a reminder of the great war.

The Nihilith left lasting scars on Eldranis, with regions still bearing the taint of their corruption. The Abyssal cults, worshiping Zal’kathor, seek to weaken the Seals of Galdrim and bring about the return of the Nihilith.

Shattering of the Isles

Prelude to the Cataclysm

The battle between Galdrim and Zal’kathor culminated in the Shattering of the Isles. The Nihilith’s influence warped the land, causing cities to crumble and the earth to fracture.

The Battle Unleashed

Galdrim wielded the power of the earth, while Zal’kathor unleashed waves of entropy. The land could not withstand the forces at play, breaking apart into massive chunks that floated upon seas of molten earth. In a final act, Galdrim sealed Zal’kathor within the earth, stabilizing the region but at great cost.

Legacy of the Shattering

The Shattered Isles became a place of legend, feared and revered. The Seals of Galdrim, scattered across the Isles, are the only things keeping Zal’kathor at bay. Expeditions to the Isles are fraught with danger, as the lingering presence of the Nihilith makes the region perilous.

Present Day Eldranis

Eldranis stands as a world of beauty and lingering darkness. The battle between the Nihilith and the Celestial Wardens has faded into legend, but the threat remains. Heroes, scholars, and adventurers seek the Seals of Galdrim, either to protect them or exploit their power.

The Abyssal cults grow bolder, their rituals threatening to weaken the seals and awaken Zal’kathor. The fate of Eldranis hangs in the balance, as the world’s inhabitants must rise to defend their home against the forces of chaos.
