It set the rival elven clans Silverleaf and Thornweaver against each other and drew in both the Seelie and Unseelie fey courts, producing years of magical battles, ambushes, and deadly skirmishes. The war finally ended in a fragile truce brokered by the Court of Eternal Grace, which established shared custodianship of Eiryn Downs and limited destructive magic in the region. The peace holds, but tensions remain high.
The war erupted in 2,600 AC out of long-standing rivalries over Eiryn Downs, a region prized for both magic and agriculture, with rolling meadows, ancient groves, and veins of powerful ley lines. The Silverleaf Clan had held the territory for centuries and began expanding aggressively, invoking ancient claims based on old treaties with the fey. The Thornweaver Clan contested those claims and sought to reassert its own dominion. Both the Seelie and Unseelie courts considered themselves the true guardians of the region and grew increasingly distrustful of elven ambition.
Tensions broke when a group of Silverleaf emissaries was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the heart of Eiryn Downs. Accusations flew, and a skirmish broke out near the Great Standing Stones of Alaraen. As both clans called on their allies, the fey courts joined the fighting.
The Battle of the Glimmering Stream (2,601 AC): The first major battle, fought along the banks of the Glimmering Stream. Silverleaf forces were pushed back after three days, with heavy casualties on both sides.
The Fey Retaliation (2,602–2,605 AC): The Seelie Court unleashed enchanted flora that choked rivers and fields, while the Unseelie sent shadowy creatures to raid elven encampments at night, opening a period of brutal guerrilla warfare.
The Siege of Alaraen (2,606–2,608 AC): The Thornweaver Clan besieged the ancient standing stones of Alaraen to cut off the Silverleaf Clan's magical power. The siege lasted nearly two years, marked by constant skirmishes and magical duels.
The Dark Winter (2,609–2,610 AC): A season of unnatural cold and prolonged twilight brought starvation, disease, and infighting as resources dwindled. The Court of Eternal Grace began pushing for peace.
By 2,610 AC the Court of Eternal Grace intervened, calling representatives to a summit on the neutral grounds of the Twilight Grove. The terms were:
Shared Custodianship: The Silverleaf Clan kept the northern territories and the Thornweavers the south. The central region, including the Great Standing Stones of Alaraen, was declared a sacred neutral zone under the Court of Eternal Grace.
Restricted Magic: Both sides agreed to limit high magic and destructive spells in the region.
