Everyone introduces themselves.

Name, age, pronouns, TTRPG experience, TTRPG playstyle.

General campaign info: a quick summary

Image
  • Low concept: the main thing that makes the story interesting are the characters, any plot or other situations come second.

  • The campaign will be somewhere between Noble, Noblebright and Bright

Some quick questions

  • How do you all feel about palate cleanser oneshots in-between each arc? Oak was talking about it in general and it sounded cool!

  • Cameras? No cameras? Free choice?

  • Preferred story pacing? Like do we want to zoof or do we want beach episodes galore?

The form results

What are your expectations of the other players?

  • Have fun.

  • Treat the game and each other with respect. Show up, be on time, commit, be invested, take it seriously.

  • Remember this is a team game, work together with the party, let others shine.

  • Try to strike a balance between OOC chat and IC progress.

  • Communicate if any of this is not the case!

What are your expectations of the GM?

  • Don't spend abhorrend amounts of money on the city map (point taken ;P).

  • Guide the players where necessary.

  • Keep the game moving with player input.

  • Balance the spotlight.

  • Prep!

What would you like to see happen to PCs when their player isn't present? What would you like for your PC?

Everyone had a different preference, let's have a table discussion about it! The general gist seemed to be control is fine but narratively meh, downtime is cool but difficult in certain scenarios.

How do you feel about guest characters and players?

  • We will open the table to guest characters once we've settled into a party dynamic and the story.

  • They will show up consistently for an arc/adventure and are treated as another player during this time.

What are your pillar preferences?

  • Roleplay up top, combat a close second!

Which of the following (sub)plotlines would you be interested in exploring?

  • The all-in subplot is the Dark Moon's Coven, this will definitely find the spotlight during the campaign.

  • Exploring the ruins and coming to a truce with the Venomcoil Tribe also seem to be popular, so plothooks for both shall be pursueable.

  • The Blightsteel Canidae conflict is divided, we can wait until further into the campaign to establish what works here, and discuss a bit now.

A quick recap on D&D 5e vs. PF2e

  • PF is less forgiving in healing. The party will rely on Treat Wounds for recovering HP.

  • Small numbers matter. There is no bounded accuracy, instead you will progress partly based on level. A +1 is much more useful in PF than it is in D&D.

  • Attacking as many times as possible isn't efficient, unless your character is built for it. Other skill actions, such as Demoralise, Trip, Prepare to Aid etc. are a better use of an action than an MAP -10 Strike.

  • Party balance is much more important. PF2e is balanced around being a team game. Try to work together.

  • PF2e assumes you know what you're doing. Casters are assumed to target an enemy's lower saves for example.

  • There are no bad builds as long as you keep your Key Ability high, feel free to pick more flavour heavy options if they speak to you.

  • Hero Points! You can spend one to get Fortune on a roll, and spend all to stabilise at 0HP rather than gain dying when you go down.

Character creation

  • Everyone share your concepts (in chat?), let's discuss which character everyone will play.

  • Character connections, who knows each other and how do you know each other?

  • Give everyone space to build their characters, schedule one-on-one time for those who would like that!

Foundry set-up help

  • Navigate everyone to the Dice So Nice panel for customisation/turning it off lol.

  • Remind everyone to drag actions from the compendium (or Quick Insert) onto their character sheets.

  • Remind everyone of the macro bar!

  • Navigate everyone to Dorako UI for the pretty game settings~
