08 - Don't be suspicious, don't be suspicious

Flint

Ven 31, 2424 - Session 8 - Don't be suspicious don't be suspicious

We devise our plan of how the heck we are going to try to get in this fortress of a place.
Unlike our usual plan to use sheer force to reach our goal we decide to try the stealth approach. If we are caught the place will surely go into lockdown and be almost impossible to infiltrate.
Thanks to Z'eds recon we have a pretty good idea oft the layout once we are inside.
With all the guards around we definitely don't want to try a direct approach. We wouldn't stand a chance!
We decide to split into 3 groups Bruin and Laslyn are going to take a drainage culvert to the east.
Amani and Klackers are going to try to get to the roof.
And Z'ed and I are going to try and sneak in on the ground floor.
Bruin and Laslyn found the culvert was a little more slippery and collapsed then they expected.
Meanwhile Z'ed and I used a stack of crates and tarp to stay hidden as we snuck around the side of the warehouse. Z'ed knocked down a crate but luckily the patrol had moved off and we were able to replace it from where it fell as to not arouse suspicion.
Klackers shapechaged into a humanish form and him and Amani threw on some of the Syndicate apparel we acquired. They headed towards the collapsed scaffolding we saw on the western corner of the building.
Amani found out she isn't the most athletic and almost fell off but quickly recovered.
A Syndicate member arrived with a covered crate and the whole place seemed to be on heightened alert. What the hell is in that crate?!?!
Bruin and Laslyn continued through the opening and Laslyn was a little too broad shouldered and her sword scraped the side making noise. Hope no one heard it! They came to some bars and unfortunately it was set up with an alarm and neither of them had the skills or tools to deal with it. Sheer physical force it is I guess. If anyone hears though hopefully they can quickly dispatch them before they alert anyone else.
On the upper levels we see the guards and everyone go into a higher alert yelling to check the basement. Shit they musta set off the alarm!
A syndicate messenger happened by Z'ed and I. I tried to throw a dread ampule at him but missed horribly. Luckily Z'ed grabbed him and covered his mouth. I pulled out some rope as Z'ed used her tail to choke him out. We made too much noise and guards heard us. We were caught red handed. This was about as bad as it could have gone for us. Everyone and there mom in the area started to swarm around us.
Meanwhile Things were going a little better for Laslyn and Bruin. Our mistake might be their benefit.
I quickly raised my hands and gave up. Z'ed was less than thrilled by my easy surrender. But hey I'd rather live to fight another day . . . I hope. . .
Klackers and Amani still hadn't been noticed yet so they easily slipped in during the diversion we created for them.
We were taken to a holding cell. Luckily I was able to palm a lock pick. We were chained to the wall and relieved of our belonging.
Z'ed was able to create a slight diversion for me to get enough time to pick my shackles. Suddenly I smelled smoke.
FIRE!!!
Turns out Laslyn and Bruin decided "You know what this place needs? A BONFIRE" and lit the basement on fire.
During all this chaos Klackers and Amani were able to pilfer some papers in a room and convince a guard that someone had snuck in and stolen all the documents.
Everyone thinks Amani and Klackers are part of the Syndicate and believe them to go find the culprits of the fire.
After we were left alone I got Z'eds shackles unlocked as the fire spread closer and closer.
She cast some magic to protect us from the flames as we grab out gear and GTFO.
We were spotted leaving into the woods but some quick thinking and my silver tongue temporarily convinced our pursuers that there was an owlbear behind them. That split second allowed us to lose them in the dark and brush.
Bruin and Laslyn were able to slip out their own way as did Amani and Klackers.
We met back up with the group a ways away from the warehouse.
Bruin and Laslyn found an interesting ritual book with strange passages about subjects and the experiments tried on them.
Amani was wide eyes when she glanced at the book. Some crazy stuff in there. Could prove useful down the road.
Klackers and Amani found some maps and papers about the region.
That place seemed like a central hub for the dealings in the area.
Then there were some papers with reference to Laslyn and a "Vessel 4". What does she have to do with all this!? Seems she is being targeted for some reason. Was she a test subject or what?
She says she has no clue why she is being targeted but we are all suspicious of her now.
We decided to go back to town and deliver the information we gathered.
As we traveled I decided to take that moment to talk to Z'ed. She is a mystery wrapped in an enigma.
I told her about my past and what I remember of my childhood and how I got to where I am today.
She didnt speak much about her past or history. She did however share something personal; She asked for a empty vial. She drew a dagger and slit her palm pouring some of her blood in it and handing it back to me. After inspecting it, it seems to have some poisonous traits.
The next morning we continued on our journey. As we crest the hill towards the town we get the smell of burnt wood and oil.
To our horror the town we left just days before was a scar of burned buildings and ruins. The Syndicate crawling all over the place. What the hell happened!!!
