Ven 32, 2424 - Session 10 - The Silence of the Vermleks

We search the bodies and the rubble of the basement of the shop. From the gathered items a couple items have an aura of mysticism calling out to a couple of us. Bruin found the Barkbind Mantle a badass piece of kit to make him even more tanky. Klackers found the Faithbreaker Splintmail, an armor set with gauntlets that bites back when he takes a big hit. Amani, standing near the Ox and Lantern catching her breath, notices the lantern out front casting shadows over her instead of light. Her grimoire of spells pulsing at her side. Inside her mind she hears a voice calling out to her. The book is talking to her?! The Grimoire of Sable Dominion letting her summon more death icky things. And it's a part of some old powerful Lich named Vorath the Craven. Magic is already dicey I don't trust this!

The Stonekeepers help clean up the aftermath and gather together the remaining survivors. Z'ed, P.I.P. and I were going around making sure any stray fires were out for good. Laslyn went looking for her friend to make sure he was still alive.

Now that things were calmed down, Amani and Z'ed took a closer look at the pile of skin to see if they could glean any useful information from it. What is there to know? They had insides and now they don't. Gross and creepy if you ask me.
Z'ed recalled something called a "Vermlek" a creature that cores their living victims flesh and wears their skin as a suit. What the hell did I sign up for here??!!

Laslyn found Idris. We got a formal introduction to him. He is a full member of the Stonekeepers, fighting the good fight. He said he saw Maris Tredd walking out of town ignoring his attempts at talking to her. We think she might be the newest victim of this Vermlek thing.
After catching Idris up on what we have all been dealing with what with the kobolds and the demonic stone Laslyn destroyed, he mentioned Berana a larger town north of here that has been experiencing some strange happenings with the local guilds having issues. He also mentioned some mines in the nearby hills that might hold some answers. He says he will head back to Berana while we investigate the mines.
We decide to take a day to recoup and get ready. Z'ed did some tattoos and eared a little coin. Bruin went off to get drunk in the woods. I took the time to try and learn how to replicate the few vials and potions I found. Amani delved into reading the strange book she found at the warehouse. Laslyn and Klackers went shopping now that the Stonekeepers got us access to the good stuff at some local shops. We got all patched up and as ready as we can be while also helping get the town fixed up as much we could in a day.
