A hidden resistance against The Sable Horizon Syndicate.

The Stonekeepers are an underground resistance movement dedicated to defying the tyranny of the Sable Horizon Syndicate. Emerging from the faithful of Derun, The Stonekeeper, this faction upholds his principles of endurance, resilience, and survival while waging a silent war against the Syndicate’s dominance. Though many of its members still worship Derun, the resistance has grown beyond his followers, drawing in sailors, merchants, and exiles who refuse to bow to the Syndicate’s oppressive rule. The Stonekeepers operate in secret, blending into communities of farmers, dockworkers, and traders, using patience and careful strategy to dismantle the Syndicate’s control piece by piece.

Goals and Motivations

  • Dismantle the Syndicate’s exploitative rule through sabotage, subterfuge, and strategic resistance.

  • Disrupt trade monopolies and free enslaved laborers under Syndicate control.

  • Provide shelter and aid to those suffering under Syndicate tyranny.

  • Restore abandoned lands and fortify hidden coastal settlements to establish strongholds of freedom.

  • Promote self-sufficiency and resilience among the people of the Lewihbolan Republic.

  • Employ patient resistance and endurance to steadily erode the enemy’s power.

History

The Stonekeepers emerged from the faithful of Derun who refused to accept the Syndicate’s iron grip on their lands and seas. In the aftermath of Rear Admiral Abebe’s fall, many believed the region would find peace—but Zorion Malgrave only tightened the chains of oppression. When the Syndicate began imposing backbreaking taxes and seizing farmland, a handful of Derun’s followers, led by Elias Thornhollow, a former Mahutaran naval officer turned Stonekeeper priest, took a stand.

At first, they worked in secret—hiding fugitives, storing supplies, and organizing small acts of defiance. But as the Syndicate’s grip grew tighter, more people joined the cause. Deserting sailors, displaced merchants, and even some former Syndicate members found a place among the Stonekeepers. Over time, what started as a loose network of farmers and exiles became a formidable underground resistance, striking against the Syndicate from the shadows.

Rules and Tenents

  • Endurance Above All: Hardship must be faced with patience and resilience.

  • Secrecy is Survival: Revealing another Stonekeeper or compromising the resistance is the greatest betrayal.

  • Strength Through Strategy: Brute force is not the answer; subtlety, planning, and endurance win the war.

  • Every Stone Matters: Even the smallest acts of defiance contribute to the greater cause.

  • Discipline Ensures Victory: Recklessness, cowardice, or betrayal result in exile or, in grave cases, execution.

Membership

  • Aptitudes: Members excel in stealth, survival, ship sabotage, and guerrilla tactics. Skills in farming and trade are equally valued.

  • Allegiance: Loyalty is proven through trials of endurance, patience, and secrecy before full membership is granted.

  • Compensation: Members receive protection, supplies, and a place among a brotherhood dedicated to a free future.

Hierarchy

The Stonekeepers operate in a decentralized, cell-based structure, ensuring that no single capture can compromise the entire resistance.

  • Elders of the Stone: Advisors and strategists guiding the movement.

  • Cell Leaders: Coordinators of small, independent groups aligned with the greater cause.

  • Wayfarers: Messengers and smugglers transporting information and supplies.

  • Hands of the Land: Operatives responsible for sabotage, raids, and direct action against the Syndicate.

  • Wardens: Overseers of safehouses and sanctuaries, providing protection to those in need.
