Gunder – The Devoted Hermit

Gunder was a rugged, soft-spoken human who lived in quiet solitude on the edge of Wyrmhollow Wood, remembered by some locals as a strange but kind-hearted woodsman. Though he kept to himself, those who met him spoke of his unwavering devotion to his ailing wife, Daenestra.

When Daenestra fell ill with a mysterious affliction, Gunder ventured into the depths of Wyrmhollow Wood, seeking a rare flower known as the Winter’s Heart, said to possess healing magic strong enough to break even the cruelest curse. He never returned.

The party discovered Gunder’s corpse tangled in the grasp of a shambling mound’s lair, not far from the Glade of the Last Promise.

The tragic timing of his death—just weeks before the party’s arrival—added weight to Daenestra’s sorrow and the lingering power in the glade.

Though they never met him alive, the party understands Gunder as a man driven by love and sacrifice, one whose final act nearly fulfilled the promise he made.
