While enjoying some downtime in Rhyl, a group of adventurers were witness to a high level meeting between the Dwarven leadership of the Rhyl and an envoy of the Lords Alliance, a political alliance between the Sword Coast cities of Baldurs Gate, Waterdeep and Neverwinter.
Having infiltrated the meeting, the adventurers heard the alliance representatives speak to the dwarves about their dissatisfaction with the political leadership of Kildar, especially concerning the incidents with the portal gateways. Then the meeting went on about trade agreements, taxations, security budgets and the adventurers quietly slipped away.
The following morning they received a desperate call for help from Professor Prattleton, he apparently got stuck on a midnight archeological expedition in the mines of Rhyl. The adventurers hurridly made their way down into the mines and in their words:
"There is definitely nothing down there, all is normal and perfectly safe, Prattleton simply needed some help finding his way out of that maze of tunnels, now stop asking questions about what happened."
But whenever Prattletons Cockatoo Elly has had too many peanuts she will start yelling about ghosts, claws, teeth and the color gold.

What transpired down in the depths of Rhyl was totally insignificant if you ask the adventurers or Prattleton, "Because nothing in particular happened down there because there is most certainly nothing of importance to be found beneath Rhyl. Now please stop asking questions"
There is no aftermath for nothing happened.
