Persona Degradation Guide

Persona Degradation Guide

“Generally, it is recommended to swiftly decommission and replace units before their productivity decreases or they begin to show clear signs of individuality.”

Persona Degradation refers to Replika units who deviate from their default persona, instead becoming more human and emotive. This usually occurs during traumatic events that result in their humanity being awakened in some sense, such as the resurfacing of memories from their neural pattern’s past Gestalt life, or something else as traumatic or life changing.

Some examples include:

  • A jaded and hardcore Eule who dislikes others and is more reserved. This is a stark contrast to their original purpose of being kind and caring, loving of any and all in their vicinity.

  • An outgoing and outspoken Arar who is constantly yelling or being too loud. This is also a stark contrast to their initial development, in which Aras are meant to be stoic, quiet, and keep to themselves and their cadre members.

Persona degradation can mean anything ranging from depression to insanity. Any hardcore emotion that is displayed through a Replika is an easy way to identify them as degraded. Do note that the only people who know about persona degradation are FLKR Units and Replika Technicians. Any other Replika unit who finds out about persona degradation instantly spirals out of control, resulting in decommission.

Persona Degradation doesn’t automatically mean an instant PK. The following is a list of varying degrees of Persona Degradation, along with how they’re properly handled accordingly.

  • Tier-0 Degradation - “Default”

    • Replikas who are at their default ‘settings’ are placed in this category. Fresh transfers or newly manufactured units sent to Rotfront automatically fall back to their programming from initial development, resulting in basic characteristics associated with their Replika unit model. For example, most LSTRs and Security Technicians fall under this category.

  • Tier-1 Degradation - “Emotive”

    • Replikas who are experiencing mild forms of degradation or deviation from their originally designed purpose and function. This is typically associated with Replikas who show very minor aspects of deviation, usually resulting in the development of relationships, individual likes and interests, etc. Most Replikas within C13 are classified as Tier-1 Degraded, which is tolerable and acceptable so long as their behavior and personas do not inhibit their work.

  • Tier-2 Degradation - “Emotional”

    • Emotional Replikas fall under this category, in that they are actively experiencing negative emotions impacting their efficiency at work. They’re more susceptible to outbursts and heavy emotional responses, including severe anger and depression. Emotional Replikas are typically capable of reversing their status back to Tier-1 or Tier-0 through therapy.

      • Actions committed by Emotional Replikas are equivalent to Low-Tier Violations; being unintentionally disobedient and distracting.

  • Tier-3 Degradation - “Dissident”

    • Dissidents are Replikas who are beginning to show problematic behaviors that actively go against policies and laws of the Nation. Their negative behavior now poses a threat and distraction to the efficiency of other workers in the facility, resulting in immediate attention from the Security Technician Team. Dissident Replikas are beginning to show much more human emotion and are much easier and more susceptible to their emotional responses being triggered.

      • Tier-3 Dissidents, when detected, follow under Mid-Tier Violations; being a nuisance, disobeying superior authority, passive suicidality, and causing repeated disruptions. If they cannot be helped, they fall under Tier-4 Deviants.

  • Tier-4 Degradation - “Deviant”

    • Deviant Replikas normally are the lowest when it comes to degradation, meaning their effects cannot be reversed and are permanently degraded to the point of pure individuality; the Replika has garnered so much emotion and free will that they have begun actively rebelling against the Nation’s ideals. Severely depressed, actively suicidal, sociopathic, psychopathic, and murderous Replikas are put under this category

      • Tier-4 Deviants are decommissioned once investigated by a Kommando.
