PK Rules

A PK, or ‘Player Kill’, is the act of a character being fully killed off after a significant event or accident has occurred that would realistically and logically result in their expiration. Typically, accidental deaths on the server are very common and are taken into an OOC standpoint, typically acting as if they are injured rather than outright killed.

However, it is ultimately dependent on the situation at hand. The following are a list of rules and possible scenarios that would and would not constitute a PK.

  1. Reckless roleplay or character activity will result in a PK. This means actively messing around or doing things with the risk of being killed associated with them.

    1. Ex. Stepping inside of an airlock, depressurizing it and sucking yourself out into space.

  2. Mindlessly stumbling into combat without a care in the world will result in a PK if your character is shot and killed.

  3. If your character is heavily degraded and are incapable of coming back to normalcy, or if your character has committed a plethora of crimes and are actively rebelling against the security of the Nation, they will be susceptible to a PK.

  4. PKs outside of the criteria listed above require permission and consent from all parties involved. This means if you as the player wish to PK another player, that player is required to give you their consent and permission. This applies to members of the staff team as well.

    1. Staff are able to circumvent this if their PK reasoning is valid, logical, and a consequence of long-time character roleplay and development.

  5. Being affiliated with or associating with the ideologies and general organization of the Eusan Empire is grounds for a PK if found out by Security Technicians. You’re perfectly allowed, as the player, to believe and associate with the Empire if you so wish, though the consequences and risks are high and the rewards are little to none.

    1. Ex. Having banned media with heavy Anti-Nation ideas and Imperial backing will result in confiscation and a PK.

    2. Spying for the Imperials is grounds for an automatic PK once found and caught.

    3. Suspicions of being affiliated with Imperials must always be confirmed by security through legitimate proof. They cannot PK a player without concrete evidence of Imperial involvement.

  6. Deaths from exposure to harsh weather conditions including frostbite, hypothermia, radiation sickness, and other hazards are grounds for a PK.

    1. This only applies to characters who willingly subject themselves to these environments knowing the risks associated with them. Players are never allowed to be placed under these conditions forcefully without their consent, as it could realistically lead to their death.

  7.  Suicide, or engaging in roleplay willingly knowing your character will die as a consequence, is an automatic PK once the outcome has been roleplayed.

    1. Suicide roleplay cannot be extremely detailed or gory, especially if other players are witnessing it.

  8.  Combat situations are always a life-or-death situation, meaning the outcome will typically result in members of the opposing party dying. You and your character, when engaged in combat, know the risks associated with engaging and will take accountability in the event something goes wrong on their side.

    1. If your character has been shot nearly to death, is actively bleeding out and medical attention is not received in a short amount of time, then they will be killed.

    2. If your character rushes to the enemy and blindly runs into their gunfire without second thought, they will be instantly killed as it falls under reckless behavior (See Rule 1-2).

    3. If your character is inexperienced in combat and is incapable of handling a firearm, the most realistic thing they can do is run away and hide. If not, and they engage anyway, they will be susceptible to a PK if shot and killed by the enemy,

    4. Friendly fire is grounds for a PK if it occurs on purpose or with malicious intent.

  9.  Staff playing event characters are always susceptible to a PK. If they are killed in any circumstance, their character is dead and there is no coming back.

    1. ‘Event Characters’ is a term applied to characters created by Dungeon Masters for the sole purpose of serving as a guide or important figure specifically designed to impose their authority or importance during an event or series of events. If killed, it is a consequence of the actions of players or other DMs involved.

  10.  If the narrative is suited for the death of your character and it is important for the story of the roleplay on the server, then your character will be PK’d.

    1. Ex. Your character is of very high importance and must choose to make a sacrifice, or else a large majority of their security members will be executed.

    2. Your character has been involved in a conspiracy against Rotfront while working with the Imperials. You have been raided and caught, and will now be executed for your crimes.

  11.  If your character is involved in a heated or tense conflict with another character, you may have a chance to PK your opponent under the following criteria.

    1. The proper character development has escalated into harm being inflicted on both sides, physical and verbal.

    2. Extensive roleplay has been done to further increase tension and aggression, fights becoming commonplace and both characters sharing resentment for one another.

    3. Credible threats being made with harm included can immediately be acted upon with proper aggression, such as your opponent saying that they will murder you in your sleep.

    4. Engaging in an act of revenge if they are involved in the death of another character, or have committed crimes or actions that are equal to or even worse than death.

  12.  Characters cannot be targeted or potentially PK’d if they are acting disobedient or are performing minor acts of rebellion. Security Guidelines for the security team dictate punishments based on ration cuts and physical reprimands, with only severe cases (such as murder) being treated with a PK.

    1. Ex. An ARAR verbally insulting a Security Technician will result in a beating, not instant death.

    2. Vague threats that cannot be confirmed as credible alone will not be treated with a PK.

  13.  Death by NPC will not result in a PK during S2K, though it will during S2RP if the actions of your character led to the consequence of death.
