The Imperial College of Magic trained and licensed court-sanctioned wizards during the Arvessan Empire, when High Magic was a legal profession under imperial regulation. After the Empire collapsed in 1013 AB, the Aurethian Celestiate launched a prolonged purge of magical colleges, libraries, and teaching houses. The College belongs to a lost age of openly taught magic, remembered through surviving texts, accounts, and fiercely opposed traditions.
