Overview

The Duchy of Feranhald is a remanent of the former Kingdom of Galdoria. The Iron Duchy, as it known by many, has managed to hold on against the rising tide of shadow emanating from the Sea of Fara for over four centuries since the fall.

A brutally militaristic society that is in a constant state of war, ever subject must serve from their first day to their last. The duchy's only goal? Hold back the Shadow.

Sequestered behind a huge stone wall known as The Towers of Irmingard, the Duchy of Feranhald is largely cut off from other realms. With the Sea of Fara to the west, and the Thunderback Mountains to the east, the duchy cannot afford to lose a single inch of ground.

Ground their people have bled over for generations.

Created as part of the original Kingdom of Galdoria, the Duchy of Feranhald existed long before the fall. Originally stretching from the roots of the Thunderback Mountains, to the coasts of the Sea of Fara, the Dukes of Feranhald controlled a prosperous land.

Upon the The Destruction of Farnor and the start of the Wars of Shadow, Fernahald began a slow and bloody retreat eastwards. Falling back to behind a great wall they were constructing called the The Towers of Irmingard.

The duke sought aid from the dwarves of the Thunderback Mountains, that was denied, therefore he fought the The War of Broken Halls in order to secure their provisions and technology for the continuing war against the shadow. This act forever branded the population as 'Vault Thieves' and thus pariahs to the dwarven race.

The next four centuries were that of slow attrition. A near constant state of war against the monsters of the Umbra has solidified the subjects of Duke Eisenwald into ruthless soldiers.

Internal

Tensions between the Charter of Magistars and the The Black Ledger as threatening to spill over into conflict. The former has been pushing against their restraints to take a more active role in the defense of the realm.

Smugglers have also been operating with increasing boldness as powerful merchant guilds press for increased commerce with the their neighbors.

External

The force of shadow have been amassing for some years with probing attacks against various parts of the wall have pushing the duke's forces to the limit. With scout reporting that more armies are amassing across the Grey Marches there is growing concern amongst the duke's court of what is to come.
