We start in the Riveted Tankard, a tavern in the Gearsport District. It’s about 15:00, and each of the party is there for their own reason.

Malum is wondering around the bar, and approaches Zygomatic and hands them a homemade business card, saying that she’s going to die soon, but that he’s around to help. Zygomatic is a bit put off by this, but before she can ask any real questions Malum wonders off to another patron. Zygomatic then recognises Nuhlra at the bar and goes over to speak with her. They chat for a moment about the weird conversation Zygomatic just had, before she takes her drink and leaves. Malum then takes the seat at the bar, and makes the same pitch to Nuhlra. Nuhlra can’t tell if he’s being honest, but is slowly coming around when Caillte approaches the bar for a drink and joins the conversation. Malum again offers a card and a few minutes later Zygomatic comes back, and asks Malum to explain himself. The group talk for a while, with Malum giving vague explanations about how he’s saved over 100 lives, and how it’s all coming together but won’t go into detail, and doesn’t want to give details about the price for his services. He then checks a blue notebook and says it’s about to happen, when a scream is from outside the tavern.

The party all rush out to see what’s happening, and find some devils attacking a band of capybara merchants. They engage with the devils, who seem more interested in attacking the merchants than the party. The merchants attempt to flee, but are weighed down by their goods, and couple of them are killed. The lesser devils then gather the dropped items, but their leader is killed before they can get away with them. The remaining devils don’t have the intelligence to know what to do next, so just keep following their last order: kill.

Midway through the fight some members of the Blightsteel Watch arrive, explaining that the devils had somehow gotten past them, and they were delayed trying to help other civilians. With the extra support, and their leader lost the devils are quickly defeated, but they are able to kill Phobia, Malum’s familiar, and knock out Zygomatic. After the fight Malum pulls out a green notebook and makes a couple of notes.

The Watch Sargent thanks the party for helping, and apologies for letting the devils get through. He mentions that their leader might have rewards for their efforts, and offers to escort them to the Starlight Sanctum. After ensuring the surviving merchant is being taken care of the party agree to go with them.
They’re taken to the Blightwatch Headquarters, and up to the office of Opearal, the elven Watch Captain. She’s surprised to see them, and the Sargent explains what happened with the devils, and that she’d asked him to be on lookout adventurous citizens. She seems a bit distracted by Nuhlra and her clockwork arm, but accepts the story, and offers 10gp each as a reward. Malum refuses the cash, but the rest of the party accepts their share. She goes on to explain that she has similar tasks to take care of in the city, and that more gold is available if we’re up to it, before dismissing us.

As they leave the Headquarters Zygomatic sees a dark veins flash by in the sky.
