+Make Safe the Adriel Way+

In an effort to settle the Grimmark, Eric Figwort the Town Reeve offers a bountiful reward to any who can make safe the Adriel Way through the Hauntmoor. As a first step, a creature who haunts the moor (slithering, leaving trails of black grease, must be slain. As reward for this beginning action, he offers 1,500 gp, a fine wagon, and two draft horses from his personal stable.

Somewhat less clear is how the very recently nearly destitute House of Figwort can afford such extravagant expansion and payment.
