“It is good to learn about other people.” He taps her nose as she pouts, small tusks poking past her lips. She pushes her father’s arm away. “But they were rude! Showed no dignity when I won. Why do we not simply drive them away from here?” And he would laugh with a wheeze. “We don’t always need to fight, my child, to show others our strength.”

A people of great stature that hail from the mountains and jungles of Nhera. Typically a secretive race, Trolls are very careful about who or what they allow themselves to interact with.

Trolls may just be the only race to rival the innate pride of Elvenkind. The trolls of Nhera were born in the humid, mist-soaked jungles of Uzuma and have adapted to be forest stalkers of great efficacy. Their bodies reflect the wild’s best predators and Trolls have a coat of fur over their arms, back and often legs. A tufted tail sways in matching colour behind them.

When the trolls awoke in the Netzekali jungles just before the first sunrise, they knew they wanted only good for the realm into which they'd been cast. Surrounded by monstrosities from the abyss, they retreated into the dark trees to form their communities.

When the dark forces fled into the jungle upon the first view of Asra, the trolls hunted them.

The elves, when they eventually explored the regions of the summer ley-cardinal freshly laid in light from Asra, were taken aback by the gigantic size and beastlike features of their people, thinking them servants of evil from the Dark Days. The fear and isolation of the trolls led to initial conflict but both peoples quickly realized their ideals aligned.

Elves initially called them Alathaeros, 'noble/high beasts', a compliment as received by the trolls. Troll comes from a mutation of thaeros over time.

Gilded History.

The cradle of their civilisation is the mineral-rich mountain ranges surrounding Uzuma, where the first tribes found the glitter of gold. This beautiful shimmer was quickly used to decorate their bodies, abodes and tools, making its presence utterly mundane yet a source of pride. The covetous eyes of their neighbours clued them in to it’s value and the Uzumani Trolls very quickly learned how to defend themselves from would-be looters.

And succeeded long enough to build a mighty city in the middle of the jungle and take a lot of personal pride in their shared accomplishments as a people but it’s uncommon to meet a truly conceited jungle troll who doesn’t recognize when others do great things.

Pride of Appearance.

Trolls love bathing, styling their hair and manes and wearing accessories. Trolls love jewelry more than anyone and have an eye for quality when it comes to metalcraft decoration. Their hair is thick and usually kept in braids or dreadlocks that hang over their shoulders and back, giving many Trolls a majestic presence while their fur frames the rest of them. Golden clasps, rings, beads and piercings are often in excess by another race’s standards, but it’s just how Uzumani Trolls like it.

They don’t usually enjoy wearing heavily concealing clothing and will often rely on their natural healing over trusting a piece of hot, uncomfortable armour. That stuff makes their fur itch. The humidity of their jungle home usually sees them dressing simply and in breathable fabric.

Their skin comes in shades of lustrous ebony to bronze or jewel-tones of azure-blue to emerald-green with the most common fur colours being that of tigers or jaguars. White is uncommon among jungle trolls, but very common in mountain or cave trolls.

Troll Names.

Troll names are given to children once the parents or guardians determine the child’s personality. Usually after about a year or two. They usually describe one of their physical or emotional virtues. Before then, they are usually referred to by an affectionate nickname often as simple as ‘child’, 'jewel' or ‘little tiger.’

Masculine Names: Davi, Tzekal, Tannan, Zahn, Aiyawatha, Tecuani, Erandi

Feminine Names: Meihri, Vohiri, Yazra, Johazi, Tenoch, Siua, Jatziri, Yaretzi

All names can be considered unisex as it can be considered auspicious to give a troll child different aetheric signatures through the power of their name.
