Basic Information

Kalashtar, The Spirit Haunted, are humanoids with an unusual connection to The Ethereal Plane. They are a humanoid lineage which trace their roots to The Ethereal Plane. In this context, "lineage" means that an individual adopts the unique racial traits of their lineage, but maintains aspects of their other ancestry in appearance.

For whatever reason, Kalashtar are born with a spirit-kin, a ghostly soul which accompanies them through their lives. The Kalashtar can draw upon the psychic powers of this ghostly comrade, and at night they dream of the spirit's past. While these ghostly companions are often esoteric in nature, some believe that the ghosts latch on to Kalashtar in the hope of fulfilling whatever unmet need still ties them to their previous lives.

Relations of other Races
Some view Kalashtar as dangerous necromancers, holding deceased souls to the plane. Others view Kalashtar as individuals who help maintain the health of the life cycle. Either way, Kalashtar do tend to be adept at both necromancy and putting souls to rest.

Physical Appearance
Kalashtar appear similar to their parent race, though typically have some sort of ghostly marking.

  • When you're using this trait to speak telepathically to a creature, you can use your action to give that creature the ability to speak telepathically with you for 1 hour or until you end this effect as an action. To use this ability, the creature must be able to see you and must be within this trait's range. You can give this ability to only one creature at a time; giving it to a creature takes it away from another creature who has it.
