Last we left off…
The game opened beneath the misty eaves of Marazhan’s Veins, where the party gathered at the shuttered home of the late Dr. Koprulam Nuso. Inside, the estate was a shell—bare, cold, and empty of any trace of a man who once sought the secrets of lost civilizations.
A Sentinel escort delivered Nuso’s will—a sealed illusionary message that flickered to life, projecting the scholar’s final words. There were no legacies passed down, no property gifted. Only a warning cloaked in riddles and an urgent plea to continue the work he’d died for. The illusion’s fading echoes left more questions than answers.
Searching the desolate estate revealed scant evidence of Nuso’s recent life. The housekeeper mentioned that the Azure Sentinels had closed the investigation with uncharacteristic speed. In the library, the party uncovered a false panel, but it had already been looted—only a single, torn scrap of ciphered paper remained. In the bedroom, faint traces of anti-divination magic lingered, suggesting that Nuso had tried to shield himself from scrying eyes in his final days.
Following the advice of Soryn Telvade, Nuso’s old assistant, the party ventured to the Stonework Conservatory, a sinking repository of rotting books and forgotten relics. Soryn was wary, but after the party assisted with menial tasks and displayed good faith, he softened. In return, he shared a water compass, a reference to a vault sealed beneath the conservatory, and whispered the names of two taverns where Nuso’s old contacts might still linger: The Verdant Kettle and The Severed Oath.
Before moving to the vault, the party examined its reinforced doors and noted the Azure Sentinel seals still in place—thick, unyielding, and layered with magical wards.
Later that night, as the party rested and regrouped, Liengod, following a gut feeling, returned to Nuso’s estate alone. There, amid the drizzle-soaked stones, he discovered a message left wedged beneath a cobblestone—no name, no signature, just a chilling warning and a cryptic initials: A.M. He pocketed it, unsure of its significance but certain that Marazhan’s shadows are now watching them more closely than ever.
Something important to remember from the session.
