The Clockwork Witness

A calibration of memory for Ryo Yurrigoji...

Part I: The Sync Ratio

The world of The Sheltered Plane is noisy. Not just with sound, but with time. Seconds tick by here with a messy, organic rhythm—rotting fruit, aging skin, rusting iron. It is a biological decay that you have never truly understood, because you were not made for it.

For a long time, the fog of your arrival kept the truth obscured. You remembered the ancient cities of Eterna. You remembered the Yurrig—those bright, artificial children your people helped guide. You remembered the day the sky broke.

But as you have traveled through Duskreach and observed the "ancient" mechanisms the Nachtshade Assembly tries to wake, the static has cleared.

You are not a ghost of a dead world. You are a child of Mechanus.

  • Your Home: The Clockwork Plane. The Great Engine. The realm of gold and gears where the concept of "aging" is a flaw in the code. Your family is there. They are safe. They are eternal.

  • Your Role: Your people, the Kitsune of Mechanus, were the architects of time for Eterna. You walked among the Fehralin as traders and consultants, teaching them to build the Yurrig, helping them understand the flow of the cosmos.

  • The Trap: When Tauwollid struck the planet, the metaphysical shockwave shattered the bridge between Mechanus and Eterna. You didn't die. You didn't sleep. You were desynchronized. You floated in the static between seconds for a millennia, watching the world break and reform in a single, frozen instant.

  • The Return: Twenty years ago, the gears clicked back into place. You "landed" in this new, broken version of the world.

The "Ancient Tech" the Assembly is trying to use? It’s clumsy. It’s a cargo-cult imitation of the gifts your people gave Eterna. It is like they are trying to hotwire a reality engine with a hammer. You are the only one who remembers the blueprints.
