Unknown - 753 BE: Before Empire Rule
Considered the cradle of humanity in Salaige in the early years of known history, Dunshar played host to the great Kingdom of Dunshar, the largest unified nation of humans that Salaige had ever seen, and a shining example of their ingenuity, nobility and adaptability during Saliage's golden years. Taking full advantage of the region's fertile plains and valleys, the nation and its people would prosper for many thousands of years. As one of the last regions to be assailed by the The Urisian Empire in 763 BE, the kingdom had much time to prepare for the empire's eventual advance, fortifying their traversable borders with great fortifications known as the walls of Dunshar. In doing this, the Kingdom of Dunshar forced the empire to effectively lay siege to their borders before the enemy could march on the land itself. This extended what would have been an otherwise overpowering and rapid hostile invasion into a 10-year war that the Kingdom of Dunshar would sadly lose in 753 BE.
The empire would make every effort to completely dismantle any remnants of the old establishment, including the destruction of the Kingdom of Dunshar's records and histories. The land of Dunshar and its primarily human population would be tasked with producing food for the larger empire. Many would die in this endeavor, as the Urisian Empire cared little for its subjects, especially those they deemed to be of a lesser race. The collapse of the empire would result in a significantly reduced and diluted population retreating to the wilderness to hide or attempt to rebuild.
753 BE - 0 BE: During Empire Rule
92 AE: New Nation
The Kingdom of Avershan is formed when the then town of Aver decides to resolve a few border disputes by conquering its immediate neighbours, taking their territories, people and resources for their own before declaring itself a kingdom to further unify and legitimise its new nation.
137 AE - 139 AE: The Founding War
The War: Questioning both Ashmuth's strength and legitimacy as a sovereign power, Averon declared a war of conquest with the objective of seizing control of the small neighbouring city-state.
Anticipating Averon's aggressive intentions, Ashmuth took inspiration from the Kingdom of Dunshar and erected long wooden palisades across the natural bottlenecks of Ashendel's landward borders. This fortification effectively prevented Averon from easily accessing the heart of Ashendel and the city of Ashmuth.
Despite these defences, Averon eventually breached them and laid siege to the city. The siege was ultimately resolved when Ashmuth's newfound allies from Oskary and the northern shores of the Orisk Gap blockaded Averon's ports with their navy, cutting off the vital trade and additional resources that Averon relied on for its war against Ashmuth.
The Alliance: The war would end in 139 with the victory of Ashmuth and their new found allies. This group would go on to become the nucleus and primary benefactors of the Orisk Trade Alliance, a group whos trade acumen and combined power make them both a powerful economic and maritime power across the eastern coasts of Salaige.
Dunshar, located on the eastern side of Salaige, is a once-prosperous region characterized by fertile grasslands and wooded valleys. Its central areas enjoy warm summers and mild winters, while the eastern coast faces storms from the Wildersea. Despite its rich natural resources, Dunshar has suffered from centuries of industrial farming and the impact of the Urisian Empire, leaving its lands in ruin and its population scattered. Surrounded by mountains and the cursed badlands, Dunshar remains largely isolated, with many smaller nations vying for control of its remnants.
