The King of Ashmuth (City) is a cunning and enigmatic ruler of the city-state of Ashmuth and its surrounding region, known as Ashendel. He has inherited a legacy of shrewdness and exceptional business acumen from his predecessors, transforming the city into a prosperous hub of trade and commerce through his deep understanding of economics.

While many admire the king for the stability and prosperity he provides, an undercurrent of fear and secrecy surrounds his rule. Tradition dictates that the king of Ashmuth and his inner court rule from the isolation of the Obsidian Gates, a heavily fortified stronghold that few outsiders have the chance to visit. Here, he orchestrates the inner workings of the state and the city and his influence beyond Ashendel.

The king is seldom seen by the public, often cloaked in long, dark robes that shroud his agile form. His face is concealed by a striking mask, adding to his air of mystery. His public appearances are rare and always accompanied by a formidable wall of guards, creating a barrier between him and his subjects.

A mysterious figure whose true appearance is shrouded behind the Arte's Mask, a long mask designed to resemble the skull of a deer, he must wear at all times as part of his role as king of Ashmuth. On top of this, Janus shrouds himself in fine robes of black and red concealing his otherwise agile form from view.

A wise man and powerful mage, he carries several powerful artefacts on his person. Most notably, the staff of (bla), built around an arcane stone found beneath The Obsidian Gates. With the appearance of an emerald, The gem holds so much power that it glows consistently, acting like a beacon, unless Janus commands it otherwise.
