Session 1 Summary

A few days after the San'ta incident, Torbin Talosta received a letter to return back to Morganna on request by his sister Charlotte Talosta. On his way there, he smells a strange foul smell in the forest that he cannot explain, when he arrives to meet Charlotte. He meets Clarisse Halbon, a Pouchfoot Stormglen Guard that has returned to Morganna to take care of her mother Betty.

But Alice and Charlotte seem to know more about Betty's condition that they aren't telling other townsfolk. Not long after Clarisse's return, it is revealed that Betty was bitten by an undead. Myra Greywinds, Emathion Marudeva, Grendel Fiddlefoot, Torbin Talosta with the help of Alice put down Betty shortly after undead reanimation.

One day later, Mayor Charlotte had planned a funeral for Betty, but Clarisse is nowhere to be found. Other townsfolk also seem to be missing. Emathion discovers that Clarisse followed an unknown being out of town through the use of his Divination magic. Mayor Charlotte asks the group to find Clarisse and discover what is going on.

The group heads towards Moonlit Birch, but they first pass the Elderberry Mill, on their way they discover undead are roaming the cornfields, but it doesn't take much to dispatch them. When they arrive at the mill, they spot a small flag waving from the window, it seems that someone is trapped inside.

They manage to make a deal with the Manticore 'Kiv' that has taken over the Elderberry Mill. Grendel decides to heal Kiv's cub Nala, which the Manticore is grateful for. The group clears out Kiv's cave from a large undead ogre. In exchange, Kiv tells the group that he saw Clarisse along another black-haired woman.

Key Information

• Clarisse's mother: Betty Halbon was bitten by a Husk. Because of her old age, this bite was fatal and upon death caused her to reanimate.

• Clarisse left a few clues behind before her disappearance.

  • Kids around town saw a 'winged lion' fly towards the south?

  • She wanted to investigate Moonlit Birch because of the disappearances.

  • Something about 'The Temple of Avaritia', believing it to be the source.

• The Manticore 'Kiv' was displaced because his cavern was taken over by undead.

• Manticore's natural weapons are not very effective on the undead.

• Kiv saw Clarisse and a mysterious black-haired woman traveled together southward.
