Session 3 | The Foxes

This incident with the Giant left Alaric conflicted about their actions, as he felt sympathy for the giant. The group set up camp at the base of a cliff, maintaining a vigilant watch after the situation by the Hyenakin. As night falls, Ginny is feeling guilty over causing the death to a creature that had not posed an immediate threat. Henry remaining quiet and distant.

The group took turns keeping watch, and Alaric suggested splitting the shifts to ensure thorough vigilance. Henry explains that he can create a magical perimeter to alert them of any intruders, a precaution that he brought along. During the evening camp, Ginny inquired about Henry's reading on the Chambet family’s history, which led to Alaric picking up that Henry doesn't seem keen on watching to talk to his own family's history. The atmosphere grew more mysterious when they noticed an unusual storm in the distance, seemingly stationary and possibly magical in nature.

During Night's watch, Ginny spots two unusual white foxes at the edge of their camp, which piqued her curiosity. When she approached, she discovered that the foxes were injured. Ginny suggests that they follow the foxes to uncover the source of their distress. Despite some hesitance from Henry regarding their supplies, the group decided to venture into the forest with the foxes.

The foxes lead the group deeper into the woods, where they feel the charged atmosphere caused by the lightning storms. Here they encountered a storm boar, adorned with a striking symbol, which unleashed a violent attack. Arvin, managed to shoot the boar, but it charged back at them, creating a chaotic battle.

Amidst the skirmish, the adventurers attempt subdue the creature. Henry utilized wards to provide protective measures, while Alaric charged into the fray. As the storm boar retaliated, it summoned multiple lightning elementals that attack the group.

Ginny's connection with nature allows her to realize that the boar is in pure agony, and that the only noble thing to do is to put it out of its misery. With quick thinking and teamwork they eliminate the threats. In the aftermath, they find a sparkling stone with a Storm marking on it. When Arvin picks it up, he felt a surge of power from the stone.

Ginny decides to adopt the injured foxes, including their 5 kits, committing to care for them as they continued their journey. As they prepared to return to camp, tensions within the group remained palpable, particularly Alaric noting that Henry exhibited an unusual anger during that last battle. But he seems to have calmed down...
