The Kingdom of Sarta was founded by immigrants of Lothen who fought for their freedom and autonomy numerous times over the years and around the many battlefields of Fork River. Sartians managed to excel in various areas, including the development of legendary military units such as The Statues, the infamous Sartian Archers, significant nautical power over the Siria Sea, and remarkable mounted warriors.

Campaigning in Sarta

Sarta’s culture is a blend of Lothenian traditions and elven heritage. Its cities host elven minorities who have lived there since its foundation and who fought side-by-side for Sarta’s independence from Lothen.
Sarta is also a popular destination for merchants and travelers—elves of the east, humans from the southern islands, and, in recent years, large numbers of Medai who have settled across the kingdom.

The People of Sarta

Sartian people are known for their wits and intelligence. Despite their kingdom’s small size and limited resources, they have successfully defended their borders against both Lothenian and Dragorian forces throughout history.

Sarta has always faced troubles both within and beyond its borders.

  • Pirates from the south frequently raid and pillage the small villages overlooking the Siria Sea.

  • Dragorian raids from the north have historically destabilized parts of the kingdom.

The Dangers of Sarta

Sarta’s mainland is relatively safe aside from occasional raids. However, Sartian brigands pose a serious threat. These groups have formed private armies, turning against local authorities and operating from the mountains under the name Brotherhoods.
They have committed atrocities—such as butchering entire villages in brutal ways—to send political messages to the royal family. Their presence endangers the peace and stability of Sarta.

Sartian Customs

  • A king or queen is referred to as the Stone King or Stone Queen.

  • Only women are allowed to use magic in Sarta, as they resemble the Medusa, the kingdom’s divine symbol.

  • Raising a statue for someone is considered the highest honor.

  • All men and women are trained in archery and horseback combat.

  • Poison is extremely common and widely used against foes, domestic or foreign.

  • Sartian soldiers wear battle crowns that imitate the snake-like hair of Medusa.

  • Medai minorities reside throughout Sarta due to their resemblance to the Medusa.

  • Minorities of Sarhad Elves also live in several cities.
