Name | Relationship | Status | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
Ilmra | Mother | Alive | Leader of the Blades of Naas - female assassin group that protects The Quiet Lands. She is calculating and cold. She does not love Vyr as a daughter, but respects her as a warrior. |
Valas | Father | Deceased | Passed away from sickness when Vyr was young. sickness was quite common in this race. With the years of incest untherans can be frail. It’s said only the ones with the best blood will overcome common weaknesses. Valas was always more frail but he was charismatic and hid it well, even from Ilmra for a long time. He wasn’t a fighter, but a consult to the king’s men, as he was extremely intelligent. This is what attracted Ilmra to him at first. As his illness got worse as he aged, she started to resent him, and his passing in her mind was almost a burden lifted as he was becoming an embarrassment to her. His mind never weakend though, and Vyr knew that. She respected him. |
SilVyr | Great Great Grandmother | Deceased | |
Ildrin | Uncle | Deceased | Twin brother to Vyr's mother (rare). Helps Vyr leave when he finds out she is an Ethomancer. Ildrin was a highly trained rogue and Vyr never knew what he did for a living, but knew it was something she wasn’t supposed to ask or talk about. He wore gloves over his hands, because they were slightly deformed. He often had many private conversations with her mother. He was different though, he knew Vyr was special before she did. He was always keeping a close eye on her and training her, up until she joined the Blades of Nas. |
King Ryphus | King | Alive? | King of Quiet Lands - resides in Cada’Vercia (the City of the Dead). |
Z’ress | Mentor / Friend | Alive | Vyr did not get to spend much time with children or anyone her age. So she spent time searching for spiders and other wildlife and became quite close to an old woman named Z’ress whose family long ago started producing the spider venom wine thats so popular now. Z’ress never had children. Her mate died long ago and Vyr believes she was hoping that Vyr would take over the wine production when Z’ress finally went to rest, even though she never quite asked her to. Vyrs bond with her was stronger than with her own mother, and she is the most sad to leave her. The wine is called “Rubrum Venack” in umtheran. Which would translate to red poison. |
Phyra | Acquaintance | Alive | Mother’s right hand in blades of Nas |
Targrith and Ghiya Zaphrune | Grandparents | Alive | Mother's parents - Still alive. Live not far outside main city. |
Argust & Nulmaz Dyru | Grandparents | Alive Deceased | Mother passed, Argust still living but in another part of the undying lands. |
Molwae & Zeerith & Mavuth | Neighbors / Friends | Alive | Molwae (mother) and Zeerith (father) Telin. Son - Mavuth (much younger than Vyr). Vyr was friendly with them as she got her first wolf from them as was able to bond with it as a cub. The undying land wolves were always black with yellow eyes. None ever had any other markings. You didn’t get to choose a cub, but the wolf had to bond to you. They lived about half as long as an untheran, so you typically would only have 1 or two your whole life. Vyr’s wolf was named Umbruas or “shadow” in the common tongue. It was very hard for Vyr to leave this companion as well, but she knew Mavuth would care for him. As he seemed to have a special way with every wolf born there. He is the youngest known umtheran to ever bond with a wolf. Vyr’s wolf and Mavuth’s were from the same litter. His wolves name is Lunavis or Luna/Lunar in the common tongue (Druids are not a thing in the undying lands, but he may be a first?) |
Savil | Acquaintance | Alive | closest female in age to Vyr in the Blades of Nas. (38 years older) They often worked together but had very different interests and didn’t talk much beyond the task at hand. Savil had big ambitions to one day be in some seat of power, something Vyr really had no interest in. |
Danmas Elnaria Larilva | Neighbors | Alive Deceased Deceased | Danmas - a well known elder who has retired and spends his time leatherworking as a hobby. He is said to be the oldest untheran that people still see around. His wife passed before Vyr was born. Her name was Elnaria. They had a daughter named Larilva, who had passed very recently. It was the last big celebration of death before Vyr left. |
Important Things
-Celebration of Death - the biggest ritual/celebration of your time alive… very different than a funeral as they talk about your accomplishments on this plane, but only briefly. The focus is thanking Untheras for keeping the balance and giving the body and soul back to the God. Everyone gets together to put the body back in the earth, there is no casket, no tombstone, but the body is left to decay in the ground to nourish the land. Untheras Vish mushrooms are eaten with a toast of wine after the prayer is read.
“Lenivar in tanbriz horizun
Non sifaz ad mori
Donum pretasviam tuli datim
Esa inter qui ante ve
Ut in stivera exisuland
Ad perfildiam verun mistdan
Umtheras tempas aligat tuv
Nunv arcun in gravia han vish”
“Go willingly into the dark horizon
You do not stop at death
You’ve been given the most precious gift
To be among the ones before you
To keep the balance of existence
To finish your only true mission
Umtheras has chosen your time
We now bow in gratitude for this wish”
Story of Stephan / Vyr's Power Awakening
-Vyr, her uncle Ildrin, two senior members of the Blades of Naas—Tazuth and Miza—and a younger Untheran named Z’ress set out to scout after reports of a ship approaching the shores of the Undying Lands. The vessel belonged to the Venari.
By the time they reached the coastline, the ship had already arrived. They couldn’t tell how many Venari had disembarked before it pulled away, but on land, they encountered six—Stephan and five others.
The Untherans fanned out in their usual search formation. Suddenly, without warning, an arrow struck Tazuth clean through the neck. Vyr watched her collapse instantly.
Chaos erupted. Arrows flew, blades clashed, and spells crackled through the air. Vyr believed they’d nearly neutralized the threat—four Venari lay dead. Ildrin was closing in on the last one, while Vyr, hidden and ready to assist, watched from the shadows. Miza, blood streaked across her face, remained close by.
Just as Ildrin prepared to strike the final blow, another arrow came from the trees—piercing him cleanly. Miza immediately bolted in the direction it had come from.
As the remaining Venari moved to finish Ildrin, Vyr attempted a spell to halt him. But something strange happened. As the magic left her fingertips, it didn’t strike as usual—it engulfed the Venari instead, swirling around him before rebounding back toward her.
But it wasn’t harmful.
The energy tethered to her, and Vyr felt something surge within—powerful and unfamiliar. The magic was siphoning the Venari’s very soul, draining it from his body and into her. She gasped as heat bloomed in her palm—something was forming there. A crystal, shimmering and perfect, took shape in her hand.
The Venari collapsed, lifeless.
Ildrin, wounded and still conscious, stared at her—not with pride or concern, but with something she had never seen in his eyes before: fear.
Vyr ran to him, but as she turned, Z’ress stood behind her, equally horrified.
Ildrin struggled to his feet and approached them both. “We need to return. That was all of them—and the ship’s gone. This… this was more than expected. Two losses. That’s not normal for us.”
Z’ress and Vyr exchanged a look. “Miza went after the ranger,” Vyr said. “I think she’s okay.”
Ildrin stood between them, silent for a moment. Then, with chilling precision, he drew his rapier and plunged it into Z’ress’s back.
“Two losses,” he said flatly. “We need to find Miza and report back.”
His gaze fixed on the crystal in Vyr’s hand. “That’s dangerous,” he murmured. “Very dangerous.”
Vyr looked down at the dead soulless Venari, reached down and took a ring off his finger, it had a crest of the Meria family. She then headed back with her uncle.
