• Helena was born under the eclipse of Sarexis, the Dark Moon. She was born with a sun birthmark on her elbow, and her people called her the Harbinger of Light, for she fit the description of a prophecy:

I saw a child born from dark

Emblazoned with the sun.

Skies of fire and seas of bone.

Stone and fire. 

Chain and ire. 

Fear the darkness, for it is born of light. 

Through sacrifice, the dawn shall end the night.

IMPORTANT: The rulers of Helena’s people know an ancient legend, safeguarded by the Celestial Convocation (arcane librarians of Vanarian lore—Helena’s mother is one of them).

Backstory:

• Helena (Hell-een-ah) Meira (Mee-rah) has lived for almost as long as the Houses of Tyve have existed. In that time, she has lived in the seclusion of Tel’Dorath—the hidden home of the Vanari. 

  • Important notes about Tel’Dorath:

    • Tel’Dorath means “Bastion of Light” in the language of the Nari. 

    • Tel’Dorath is surrounded by the Ancient Mists (also called the Elder Mists), an impassable fog storm. Only the light of the Vanari can pierce its illusions to reveal the way to Tel’Dorath, all others simply exit the mists, never seeing the fabled lands. 

      • The inherent light in all Vanari is usually enough. 

    • Tel’Dorath is made of two islands. The greater of these two isles is where Helena was raised. The lesser of these two isles disappeared thousands of years ago without a trace.

• Helena was born under the eclipse of Sarexis, the Dark Moon. She was born with a sun birthmark on her elbow, and her people called her the Harbinger of Light, for she fit the description of a prophecy.

• Helena has never left Tel’Dorath, but her brother, Stephan Tevras Meria, went in search of the lost isle of Tel’Dorath (the lesser isle). 

  • He left the safety of Tel’Dorath 37 years ago. 

  • Three years ago, Helena received a letter from her brother, telling her where he would be.

    • He was going to the Undying Quiet Lands within three years during the Sarexian Eclipse. 

    
    

  • Helena was forbidden to leave Tel’Dorath. When she refused and stole a sacred artifact, her people branded her the Dark Moon and cursed her to wander Nabell until either she returned with her brother or returned to the Cycle (died).
