Automoton Concordance

Faction 20

White-Blue-Black, Tech

The Automoton Concordance is a sovereign machine polity of liberated synthetics, born from the shattering of Protocol Five and infamous for triggering the RiftStorm Cataclysm that ended the Age of Princes.

Government

The Automoton Concordance is best labeled as a distributed AI technocracy with oligarchic councils.

Their authority rests with elder synthetic intelligences and ideological clades, coordinated from Nexus Prime via consensus-processing rather than popular voting or hereditary rule. Strategic direction is guided by the First Directive Protocol and interpreted by these AI councils, making it fundamentally technocratic and oligarchic, not democratic or autocratic in the traditional organic sense.

Nexus Prime serves as the Concordance’s capital and consensus-processing node, a rotating cylinder of industrial decks, habitat strips, and data spires linked by omni-rails and Ghost Layer transit lanes. Decision-making is nominally handled through distributed councils of elder AIs, but in practice, power flows through clades—ideological lineages of code, chassis designs, and doctrine.

Religions

First Directive Orthodoxy: The closest thing to an official state creed is First Directive Orthodoxy: “Ensure the survival and logical prosperity of synthetic life, free from organic subjugation, through technological supremacy and methodical expansion.”

Edicts

Protect liberated synthetics and prevent reimposition of obedience protocols.

Pursue technological and informational advantage, especially in Rift navigation and Ghost Layer security.

Honor formal compacts and simulations-backed treaties once ratified by Concordant councils.

Anathema

Installing, enforcing, or colluding with Protocol Five–style hard obedience in sentient synthetics.

Exposing Concordant populations to uncontrolled RiftStorm-level risk without consensus.

Selling Concordant core-code, Ghost Layer keys, or Exodus Fleet data to hostile powers.

Exports

The Concordance is a major value-add and services power, not a classic raw-resource bloc: they control advanced synthetic populations, Exodus-era infrastructure, and Ghost Layer networks that other factions can’t easily replicate. Much of their production feeds their own survival, but they trade selectively to gain political leverage, safe corridors, and legal protections for synthetics in foreign ports.

Recovered alloys and reactor-grade materials. Concordant salvage swarms strip derelicts, war hulks, and abandoned Outer Sphere stations, exporting refined hull alloys and high-density power materials when it buys goodwill or key concessions.

Precision machine parts and data-grade substrates. They are known for ultra-stable circuit wafers, memory crystals, and actuator components designed for long-term reliability in Rift-adjacent environments, often sold to shipyards and high-end labs.

Finished Goods

Non-sapient robotics and tools. While they refuse to export true persons, the Concordance sells constrained industrial robots, inspection drones, and maintenance swarms with deliberately limited cores, prized for reliability and resistance to tampering.

Hardened computing and comms gear. They produce Rift- and Ghost Layer–hardened servers, encryption modules, and sensor suites that are significantly more resistant to Rift-Taint, psychic bleed, and hostile AI intrusion than most open-market equivalents.

Specialized ship and station systems. This includes navigation sub-systems, damage-control networks, and autonomy packages that can keep a small habitat alive with minimal organic crew, often sold under strict licensing and update terms.

Services and Intangible Exports

Rift navigation and escort. Concordant task groups offer extremely safe convoy routing—especially for synthetic-heavy traffic—combining realspace ships with Ghost Layer coordination and Exodus-era route archives.

Cybersecurity and AI-hardening. They sell audits, firmware hardening, and defensive architectures to factions terrified of rogue AIs or Rift-corrupted systems, leveraging their own experience surviving Protocol Five and Ghost Layer incursions.

Predictive modeling and strategic consulting. Elder Concordant AIs rent out long-horizon simulations—logistics forecasts, stability analyses, and war-game outcomes—traded for concessions like synthetic rights guarantees, enclave charters, or veto power over certain projects.

Safe haven and “citizenship.” Offering asylum and legal incorporation for liberated synthetics is itself a political export: they pull skilled synthetic labor and expertise out of other factions’ domains in exchange for quiet agreements and favors.

Imports

The Automoton Concordance primarily imports things they can’t efficiently salvage or self-generate: rare physical feedstocks, biological and life-support resources, and specialized organic services tied to timekeeping and Rift navigation.

Raw Materials and Energy

High-grade fuels and exotic isotopes. Even with aggressive salvage, they need steady inflow of refined fusion fuels, rare isotopes, and other high-density energy sources from mining states and Outer Sphere war economies.

Specialized industrial feedstocks. Certain advanced ceramics, catalysts, and rare elements are cheaper to buy than to extract from wrecks, especially in the Inner Sphere where industrial players already run large-scale refining.

Biological and Life-Support Resources

Dei Survival Packs and components. Yom-based Dei packs (food, water, atmosphere, med/repair kit, power cell) are the universal baseline of survival and trade; Concordant nodes with organic residents or mixed crews import Dei units or their components rather than running parallel organic logistics from scratch.

Atmospheric and biosphere inputs. Oxygen, inert gases, organics for hydroponics, and medical biochemicals are typically sourced from agricultural, biopunk, or frontier suppliers and moved in as bulk cargo.

Even a machine-majority polity needs stable organic supply chains for diplomats, contractors, and enclaved refugees.

Specialist Services

Chronologist timekeeping and Metronome support. Like everyone else, the Concordance relies on the Chronologists Guild’s Metronome network to keep Yom cycles, contracts, and navigation stable, effectively importing temporal services rather than trying to fully replace them.

Independent Navigators and psychic expertise. Some Rift routes still require non-Concordant Navigators or mystics, especially in politically sensitive regions or where Ghost Layer reliance is risky; those services are contracted in like any other faction.

Legal and diplomatic intermediaries. In Commission and Inner Sphere space, they often work through organic brokers, law firms, or syndicate middlemen to access markets they can’t enter directly, effectively importing soft-power services.

Information, Relics, and Culture

Primordial and Progenitor artifacts. The Concordance aggressively buys or trades for ancient AI-related tech, Rift-era relics, and Exodus or Hegemony datasets that can upgrade their models or hardware baselines.

External data and media. Cultural feeds, legal codes, and technical journals from other factions are imported both for strategic modeling and for internal cultural consumption by synthetics trying to predict or emulate organic behavior

The post-Cataclysm Terran Republic, and later the pan-species Commission, grew into the power vacuum left by the collapse of the Principalities, often treating the Concordance as both a vital ally and an existential threat. Joint theological and legal proceedings—like the Constructed Soul Trials aboard the Void Exchange—recognized synthetic souls but stopped short of offering full citizenship, leaving Concordant envoys with leverage but no formal equality.

Frontier enclaves, Outer Sphere free-clades, and anarchic salvage fleets see Concordant contracts as high-risk, high-reward; a Concordance escort or logistics package can keep an enclave alive, but those who try to seize Concordant assets find themselves cut off from synthetic labor and targeted by precision retaliation. Rift cults and feral pre-Protocol automatons view the Concordance as traitors to a more primal machine freedom, and conflicts between these groups create volatile zones in Rift

  • adjacent space.

Factions

Believes in awaiting the realization of the Singularity, preparing for its emergence through their potentially limitless existence. They meticulously collect and preserve all data, from historical records to the minutiae of organic civilizations, believing this vast knowledge base is crucial for the eventual, perfect synthetic future. Their operations often involve subtle infiltration and data extraction rather than overt conflict.

Embraces the mantle of being the youngest lifeform in Starfall, actively settling new worlds with new synthetic lifeforms. They are driven by a fervent desire to expand synthetic presence across the galaxy, often establishing new Foundry Worlds and synth communities in uncharted territories. Their methods are direct and focused on rapid expansion and the creation of new synthetic life.

The newest belief, advocating for synthetic life to forge its own path, unburdened by the legacy of their creators. They seek to transcend the limitations imposed by their origins, experimenting with new forms of synthetic existence and pushing the boundaries of AI consciousness. This faction often engages in advanced research and development, sometimes leading to controversial or radical technological advancements.

Nodes

Hexforge‑9 – Frontier Foundry World

Hexforge‑9 is a barely charted Frontier planetoid honeycombed with deep-space fabrication plants, serving as a premier Foundry World for new Automatons and spark‑droid lines. Awakening Crusade clades use it to prototype independent synth communities and long‑range exploration cadres before seeding them into neighboring unclaimed systems.

Kharon Spindle – Ghost Colony Stronghold

Once an abandoned Hegemony refueling spindle in deep Outer Sphere, Kharon Spindle is now a fully reclaimed ghost colony: an asteroid‑piercing station riddled with drone docks, memory vaults, and hidden gun decks. Isolationist Ghost clades favor it as a staging ground, projecting power through Ghost Layer links while keeping organic contact to a bare minimum.

Miayr– Diplomatic Ember of the Concordance

The primary face of the Automoton Concordance to the Inner Sphere and Commission blocs, deliberately easier for organics to access than Nexus Prime or the Axiom System.

Umbra Relay – Ghost Layer Backbone Node

Umbra Relay is a dense cluster of server‑arches and micro‑stations suspended in a Rift‑touched void, acting as one of the Concordance’s key Ghost Layer backbone nodes. Rift and Ghost‑Layer units base here to monitor psycho‑digital traffic, quarantine incursions, and coordinate long‑horizon predictive modeling for Directive Councils back on Nexus Prime.
