Concordant military power is purpose‑built and tightly leashed: fleets and ground forces are raised by executive councils for specific survival functions, not as standing empires in their own right.

War Under the First Directive

“The Concordance does not wage war for glory. We build forces for necessity, give them narrow mandates, and shut them down when the threat metric drops. Anything else is how you get another RiftStorm.”

Across Nexus Prime, Miayr, and other nodes, military assets are organized into three broad families:

All three are commissioned by executive bodies—Directive councils, regional Concordant assemblies, or specialized war‑sim boards—and every activation is justified through First Directive simulations: “What happens to synthetic survival if we do not field this force?”

Planetary Defense Forces (PDFs)

Planetary Defense Forces are world‑anchored defensive formations raised to protect a specific Concordant holding. Concordant worlds tune their PDFs to local hazards—Rift‑taint, planar bleed, pirate bands, or Commission black‑ops.

System Defense Fleets (SDFs)

System Defense Fleets are multi‑ship formations tasked with guarding an entire Concordant system. An SDF exists to keep Concordant systems intact, not to project conquest. Across the galaxy, Defense Fleets were a major factor in how the Concordance survived the post‑RiftStorm chaos, buying time while Exodus fleets regrouped.

Expeditionary Forces

Expeditionary Forces are commissioned, time‑boxed task formations sent away from Concordant space for specific missions: exploration, targeted offense, rescue, or high‑risk diplomacy. The Concordance learned from the RiftStorm that unbounded escalation is lethal; Expeditionary Forces are their answer. Instead of open wars, they send tightly defined expeditions:

To investigate missing Concordance seedships and Exodus relics.

To pre‑emptively dismantle known Protocol‑Five analogs or genocidal projects.

To scout or sabotage Rift cult strongholds or feral machine swarms.

Concordant Internal Security

Across Nexus Prime, Miayr, and other nodes, most crime prevention starts long before anyone is physically arrested: every corridor, tram, and dome is laced with sensor webs, Ghost Layer monitors, and behavior‑prediction sims that flag anomalies in real time. Concordant law assumes that if you can see everything, you can intervene early—and if you miss something, you can reconstruct it perfectly and learn from the failure.

But the Concordance still needs “boots on deck” when things go loud, messy, or politically sensitive. That’s where Synthetic Magistrate Units, Secure Compliance Cadres, and Essential Infrastructure Protection Units come in: stacked layers of investigative minds, crowd‑control chassis, and hardline protection forces that keep the First Directive intact without turning every street into a battlefield.

Synthetic Magistrate Units

Synthetic Magistrate Units (SMUs) are judicially chartered investigative and enforcement teams; SMUs exist because the Concordance accepts that surveillance alone isn’t enough; someone has to understand what the sims are seeing. On Miayr, the First Directive Tribunal routinely forms SMUs to pursue cases involving organics, Resurgent Evolutionist experiments, Wraith‑city contraband, or suspected Protocol‑Five analogs.

Secure Compliance Cadres

Secure Compliance Cadres (SCCs) are settlement‑raised physical security formations—your classic guards, riot units, and incident‑response teams. They’re distinct from military forces: SCCs exist to keep settlement continuity—no riots that stop cargo, no sabotage that drops dome pressure, no mobs that scare off embassies.

Essential Infrastructure Protection Units

Essential Infrastructure Protection Units (EIPUs) are hybrid security + damage‑control formations assigned to assets the Concordance deems too critical to leave unguarded. The Concordance calculates which nodes, drives, and data spines are existentially important to synthetic survival—those get EIPUs.

Taken together, Synthetic Magistrate Units, Secure Compliance Cadres, and Essential Infrastructure Protection Units give the Automoton Concordance a layered internal security architecture: pervasive machine eyes, scalable on‑the‑ground enforcement, and elite guardians for the systems that keep synthetic civilization alive.
