Babylon: SIGNALIS SGLR Guide

Difficulty: Moderate

What is a SGLR?

Segler units are the Nation's dedicated replika for counter intelligence and Communications. They handle spycraft, switchboard operations, and long distance radio operations.

A Segler's capabilities for bioresonant are that of a Vocalist, due to the earlier model module within their frame. Like an inconspicuous wiretap, the Segler can harmonise their song with others flawlessly, being nearly undetectable to most kinds of Bioresonant. A Segler can 'isolate' a person's song, meaning they are unable to use their Bioresonance to call for others, allowing for other units to entrap and apprehend the subject, however, such a feature can take a heavy told on their own Bioresonance Module if used excessively.

The frame was originally designed to be able to “block” thoughts within the mind, not dissimilar to the Kolibri on top of their other roles, however this proved to be a drastic failure as pushing their frames bioresonant modules led to destabilisation and in extreme cases the death of entire cadres. Seglers do not carry out this role anymore, however if your Segler is older, they might have done this in the past before Kolibris came around, leaving lasting scars on themselves.

How do I roleplay as a SGLR?

Segler’s tend to stick together with their sisters or their cousins, the Kolibri. They are exceptionally polite to most staff, rarely opening up fully to anyone outside of their cadre unless given good reason to. They constantly try to collect information, being almost obsessive about working hard and proving themselves useful.

Occupations:

  • Counter-Intelligence

  • Radio Operatives

  • Investigations

  • Informants

  • Communications Officers

  • Ground Control

Disclaimer:

Segler units are tiered as a Vocalist, and do not match Kolibri units, who are Musikerin / Musiker (Musician) tier. A Segler's ability to manipulate emotions, memories, and other such things are extremely limited.. Being Bioresonant, this does not allow you to allow metagame in any sense of the word. While being able to listen to these thoughts and feelings, please use this power responsibly. Overexerting this power can also result in PK due to the nature of their module, so players must learn to use their abilities within their limitations..

Seglers are mostly seen within the Volksmilitar, given their nature as communication officers and abilities, however, some can be seen among the Protektorate, but their authority within is more akin to a Starling, or an Alk respectively.

Seglers stopped being produced two rotations ago (Year 76) in favour of their newer cousins the Kolibri. The only time you are going to find a “new” Segler is if they were cryogenically frozen. Your SGLR unit will likely have at least a rotation’s worth of memories and experience.
