Aureth is the supreme God of the Aurethian faith, creator of the universe, creator of the Ladies, and the divine authority above all other beings. Aurethian doctrine does not assign him a narrow portfolio as it does the Nine Ladies. He represents creation, divine sovereignty, and the proper ordering of existence itself. The star, Vaerun, is understood to be Aureth's celestial embodiment, the greatest and nearest divine light, watching over Veyrath and the Nine Ladies whom he favored and entrusted with the world. Aureth occupies the central sanctuary of every Prime Temple, with the Nine arranged around him. He likewise has no separate virtue or sin within the Precepts of the Nine. Instead, Aureth represents the proper balance and ordering of all nine virtues into a complete life.
Aureth is traditionally depicted in human form as a very tall man of about fifty, broad-shouldered and strongly built without the martial physique associated with Vaedra. He has deep bronze skin, a square face, straight nose, dark amber eyes, and thick golden-brown hair worn to the shoulders, with a short full beard of the same color. His expression is calm and direct, neither smiling nor stern. He wears a long white robe beneath a heavy golden mantle, usually without weapons, tools, or other objects associated with a particular profession. A radiant circular sun behind his head is his defining artistic attribute, and formal Celestiate images normally show him facing directly outward rather than in profile. Unlike the Nine Ladies, who are believed still to walk Veyrath bodily as women, Aureth is principally encountered through the sun, creation, and divine order rather than through stories of an earthly human guise.
