Still glowing after their daring rescue of Sooney-Crow of No Family and the exploration of the Spire of Abartu, The Green Dragon Brotherhood takes a moment to have a frank conversation as to the exact nature of William Dune's apparent scam. Dune reveals his real goal was to secure The Uxul for Rehan Mund of The Red, and that the Brotherhood just happened along at just the right time to let him do that. He comes clean, and the party admits that being a lying scumbag isn’t exactly a barrier to entry, so Dune is admitted to the Brotherhood for a probationary period.

With everyone being on the same team, if not entirely the same page, plans are made for their return to Rainwall City. It’s obvious Mund will need to be dealt with, and the party needs to hole up and lie low. Dune has no heartbeat, and it’s decided that while out in public, they will make it look like he’s dead and they’re returning the body for a bounty. Greer the Betrayer says his plan is to make The Red work for them!

Before they can do that, however, they need to make their way out of the jungle. They begin their trek. Great progress is made due to having been here before. They are able to scout around flesh eating vines and avoid a colony of giant ants, but they do run smack into an Urgot hunting party. Dune incinerates them with a spell before the Urgozer can get a spell of his own off. After that, it’s smooth sailing, until…

Three days out from the Spire, they come into a clearing and spy a body lying on the ground, discarded sword at its side and a bag of gold coins spilled on the ground. They recognize it for a trap and quickly notice the body is in some state of decay and the shirt is on backwards. There is a string running from the body into the jungle - they believe it to be the work of the giant talking apes whose village they put to the torch in the heist of The Uxul .

Carefully avoiding the trap, Greer the Betrayer scoops up a handful of the gold and throws a couple of coins to Skarrow, who catches them barehanded and immediately falls to the ground, paralyzed. The jungle erupts with murderous monkey howls, and the real trap is sprung. A dozen man eating monkeys surge out of the trees, and the thundering footsteps of Oot-Arn are right behind.

The Brotherhood fights bravely, though the monkeys get some shots in. Several party members are going to be nursing bite wounds for a bit. Cleansing Waters bravely rushes at Oot-Arn himself, engaging him barehanded. The beast gets him in a bear hug, scratching his cornea and leaving him partially blind. Shiv Drinkstep runs in to help, and with one mighty stroke of The Blade of Graxus, cuts the ape’s head clean off the body, ending the encounter and protecting his friend.

The party carefully gathers up the coins, which appear to be treated with some kind of poison, wrapping them in leather with the intention to use them as part of their scheme to get The Red off Dune’s back.

They quickly make their way to the edge of the jungle, and Rainwall City stands before them. They enter by Parder’s Gate, making a big show of Dune’s “dead body” for the guards, invoking Rehan Mund's name and more or less announcing their presence. Once inside, they head for The Rag and Blade, their preferred budget hotel, where they bribe (maybe) the innkeeper Lucious Rygax to keep everything quiet. He says he’ll do so.

Then it’s rest, baths, laying low and plotting. What comes next? How will they put paid to William Dune's debt? How will they handle Rehan Mund? How quickly does their new boss Ur-Balat expect them to get to Melek? Only time will tell…
