Tsamvik Region

Description

A cold, windswept archipelago of rocky islands, deep fjords, and towering sea cliffs. The waters of Tsamvik are dark, frigid, and treacherous, where hidden reefs, thick fog, and sudden storms claim the unprepared. Dense evergreen forests cloak the larger islands, while hardy tundra and windswept grasslands dominate the smaller isles. Though harsh, the surrounding seas abound with fish, seals, whales, and seabirds, making the region one of the Khanate's richest maritime frontiers.

Tsamvik is among the most isolated regions of the Khanate. To the Northeast, beyond the frozen waters, lies the dreaded Choir of the Endtimes, while the endless sea stretches westward into the unknown. Travel between the islands demands skilled sailors, for the waters are said to be haunted by great sea beasts and hidden beneath perpetual mists.

Unlike the horse-lords of the steppe, the people of Tsamvik are children of the sea. Their longboats serve where horses cannot, and the rhythms of the tides dictate their lives more than the changing seasons. The mainland often regards the islanders as peculiar folk, hardened by generations of isolation and possessing customs as mysterious as the fog that shrouds their shores. Clan rivalries, forgotten traditions, and old sea legends still endure within these northern isles, where every harbor holds a story and every voyage is a wager against the sea itself.
