The Phoenix Nebula is the ship that was used by the party of the same name in the Curse of the Blood Sea campaign. It served as the party's base of operations after they captured it from Roonan's crew once they had lost their original ship, the Argent Star.

After an aberrant magical infusion by an illithid druid named Vass, the ship turned purple and gained sentience, along with the ability to teleport to anywhere on Abmarah.

The ship eventually became a privateer ship working for the Crimson Navy, allowing it to sail unimpeded through the Blood Sea.

History

The ship was originally built by Roonan Deeprose, and its maiden name was "The Deep Rose". He captained it for many years, until his capture by the Crimson Navy due to the actions of the party. It then went in command of Roonan's first mate, Linn 'Treason' Swales. However, the ship was captured by the Cult of Varkanus when it docked to the island of Yube. The crew was imprisoned by the cult, and eventually rescued by the party. The party captured the ship from the cult and recruited the remaining sailors after freeing them.

They renamed the ship to the Phoenix Nebula, and took it as their new base of operations since they had just lost the Argent Star to a juvenile Kraken that guarded Yube. The Deep Rose was only able to bypass it due to being allowed to do so earlier.
