Laoch Redfield is the Mayor of the Anchorage of Whispers, and was a part of the Phoenix Nebula party. She served as the ship's captain, and was associated with the famous pirate crew of The White Gull. She was a paladin devoted to Atrius, even if she didn't know about all of her history and traditions.
After the campaign, Laoch was one of the two PCs to continue to stay aboard the Nebula as well as the Rummery, alongside Sif. She also took over as the Mayor of the Anchorage of Whispers.
Laoch was found as an orphan amidst the wreckage of a battle fought by the crew of The White Gull. Alastorm Redfield & Phaona Arrands decided to adopt her as a part of their family, and Laoch grew up as a part of their crew.
Sailing across the Blood Sea and beyond, she was close to her family and witnessed much of what made the crew famous, especially when her brother, Niklaus Sherwind, commanded the ship.
However, the Crimson Navy eventually caught up with them, and sunk the ship with most of her family left for dead. Laoch survived with a single pirate coin, and eventually went on to become a spy pirate.

After spending many years spying across the Aurian mainland, she met Anlee, Sif, Nyx, Elise, and Pete aboad the Teal Star, a merchant ship ferrying them to Port Cinoh. However, they were boarded by Deeprose pirates, and marooned at Tikius. There, they ended up within the service of Pirate Lord Belanar Gullis. They got involved in his investigation into the Deeprose Pirates and their leader, Roonan Deeprose, who seemed to be working with a mysterious 'Dr. Genso' in creating an abyssal plague which threatened Tikius and the rest of the Blood Sea. They also met many people there who would become mainstays later on, such as Xoe, Amari, Rumfuck, and Gary.
While they were on Tikius, the crew also found out about the supervolcanic nature of the island and the elemental who threatened the city, nicknamed Pyrovain. The party was given the repaired Teal Star (renamed the Argent Star) and traveled to Fort Rawan, meeting Commodore Zolen and Dr. Baizo, as well as picking up Shoila and the quetzalcoatlus egg that would later hatch to become Duck Norris. At the Anchorage of Whispers, they met Xaniv the Whisperer for the first time and faced off against Captain Roonan. They defeated him and arrested him, forgave Shoila for her betrayal, but the Deeprose crew escaped on their ship. On their way back to Tikius, the crew came across a meteorite and an aberrant otherworldly monster. At Tikius, they defeated Pyrovain and saved the city. Xoe forged the meteoric metal into Stormdancer, a special scimitar for Laoch.
The crew continued onward towards Port Cinoh while it was hosting the Seven's Carnival. Laoch entered a tournament within the carnival, facing off against Yatra Athira in a one-on-one fight that she ended up winning. Esma tried to recruit Laoch into the carnival, but Laoch rejected the offer. There, they met Monk Kazeshi of the Shidono Temple, as well as Shogun Kagegojuu Iwale who informed them that the Aekai yakuza's leader, Singularity, had kidnapped Dr. Baizo. They traveled to his complex across the island, but ended up learning that his son was possessed by an aberrant demon. They helped him exorcise his son, but had to fight and kill a possessed Singularity. The crew then went back to Port Cinoh, and helped Elise defeat her rival Uragan in a bard-off. Yatra took Singularity's son, Tsubi, to safety.
The crew then continued onwards to the island of Yube, where Genso's lab was located. They were ambushed by a juvenile kraken that guarded the island, which destroyed the Argent Star in the fight. They also found a wrecked Deeprose, and its crew imprisoned by the Varkanist cultists. They helped free the crew, and got a heading of Taltigo. The combined crew took over the Deeprose, and renamed it 'the Phoenix Nebula'. At Taltigo, they met Pirate Lord Lady Lyn as well as her assassin, Zai. They worked for her a bit, and then went into the sewers to fight one of the cult leaders, Yulis. He was a tough fight especially for Laoch and Anlee, who both nearly died to him. Laoch was named the first mate under Captain Anlee.
The Nebula then traveled back to Taltigo, where they had the ship repaired. Near Gravesbry, they were arrested by the Crimson Navy and forced to become privateers by Admiral Isabeau. At Isla Tumba, they met a young boy named Can who helped them find some treasure- a sealed iron flask. The crew then traveled underwater in a submarine apparatus to meet the storm giant Amohr, who after testing their strength, revealed to them the location of the Black Scroll of Varkun that Genso was after, a temple on Darkgrove Isle. The crew traveled there, and at the temple, Laoch had a vision of its history and of the Cometfall. There they discovered that Dr. Baizo was Dr. Genso all along, a split personality even he wasn't aware of. The crew managed to defeat him, and decided to return the black scroll to Amohr for safety. They decided to split ways for a while, and Anlee named Laoch the new captain of the Phoenix Nebula during her 18th birthday party.
Laoch would spend the next two years alongside Sif and the rest of the crewmembers as a privateer working for the Crimson Navy, under the now-promoted Grand Admiral Isabeau. She also took over the rest of Roonan's estate, including the Deeprose Rummery that she refurbished into the Silver Songbird Rummery. She even started her own rum brand, called Nebula Rum.
After the Tidemeet in Shipwreck City, Laoch and Sif were thrown into the paranoid Pirate Lord Xiphalia Sitarro's dungeon after they got wasted. There, they met up with Anlee again, as well as meeting Boz Walarson. They broke out with the help of Elise and Zai, and ran into D'vorah on the way to the Nebula. While escaping Xiphalia's fleet, they summoned the water genie Shah Heswaa el-Majraa from her iron flash prison. She sent them into the Plane of Water, where the crew was imprisoned in Castle Almarjanu by Sultan Mukaz al-Azad. The party made a deal with Heswaa and escaped the water plane after defeating an Aboleth.
The Nebula then ended up near Saturnia (Now Sergorod) and met up with one of Laoch's old spy contacts, Senator Chupov. The crew used his introduction to get into a high-class wedding and meet with lunar officials including Bolt Karboniv. The crew cleared out Pirate Lord Shri Kunala Qrozk's slave operation nearby in the Cove of Cries, and then aimed to get back to Cinoh as they heard about the political upheaval there from Isabeau. On the way, they stopped at Canau and met with Pirate Lord Fenya Cetrovna. While doing a job for her, the party helped the residents of Firewatch Monastery from a zombie invasion caused by a minor abyssgate nearby. For closing that abyssgate, Laoch was rewarded by the god Vertum, as he broke down and recreated Stormdancer to be more powerful.
While visiting Île de Cratère, the party ran into the crew of the The Icicle Reaver, including Cydney. Laoch recognised Cydney as Niklaus, her long-lost brother who was presumed dead. He seemed to now be a bladesinger wizard, and had amnesia. The crew convinced him to join the Nebula, but Laoch was unable to get closer to him.
In Cinoh, the crew ended up getting involved in the political machinations of Shogun Aite and Damien Daimao, eventually culminating in a battle within the Cinohan throne room. Laoch felt especially betrayed by Aite. After Damien's death, Cinoh was transformed into a constitutional monarchy. The crew then traveled to the Anchorage of Whispers again to meet with Xaniv, where he finally revealed his truth to the party. Realizing that he is the ultimate villain in all this, the party vowed to kill him. Xaniv then sent hunting horrors after the party that ended up killing Anlee. Laoch made a trip back to the Rummery and met with her old friend Zorahim, who revealed more details about the imminent siege of Tikius where they also recruited Fek. The party slapped some sense into Belanar and put up a successful defense of Tikius against Volnaxokaaz and Grand Admiral Isabeau. Laoch successfully broke her contract with Isabeau when she defeated her, nearly killing her if not for Belanar urging her not to do it.
Cydney then asked Laoch and D'vorah to help him with destroying the memory-experiments at the Blackwood Institute, where they also ended up rescuing Vass, a 'good' mind flayer. Vass returned the favor by bringing the The Phoenix Nebula itself to life, and giving the now-purple ship the ability to teleport anywhere in the oceans of Abmarah. The Nebula then traveled to Sombus, where they met with Emperor Sombra himself. He pardoned them of their crimes, while asking for their help in return for his help in closing the Abyssgate. The party was to travel to the Lightless Ruins and bring back the artifact Lightclaw. To travel the Everswamp, the party hired a local bilari ranger named Fa'azha in Forfey. The senior bilari chastised Laoch a lot for forgetting her roots and not even knowing all that much about Atrius. However, he was sympathetic to her. After rescuing Markal Zuriel from the ruins, the party was ambushed by Ballista Aries, and Fa'azha died in that battle with his soul destroyed- something that deeply affected Laoch.
When the party decided to reconvene the The Pirate Court at Shipwreck City, they traveled across the Blood Sea and beyond to gather all the pirate lords again as well as locate Xaniv's phylactery. Laoch met Roonan again, who surprisingly forgave her for taking over all his assets, but wanted the party to give him Cetrovna's Canau in return somehow. He informed Laoch of the prison that held her parents. The crew broke into the antimagic prison, rescued Alastorm and Phaona, and escaped into the Plane of Fire temporarily. Laoch then took her parents to Shipwreck City and reconnected with them and Cydney. They revealed to her that they wanted to put piracy behind them for now, but she wanted to remain a pirate.
"Rise." - Atrius reviving Laoch.
Laoch and the rest of the Nebula then finally sailed into the Abyssgate, defeating the Demon Prince Demogorgon with their combined powers. Xaniv the Whisperer then tried to drain Varkanus' divinity, and the final battle ensued. Laoch was killed during this final battle, and she awoke in the Fugue plane. There, she met her goddess Atrius, who told her to rise. Laoch came back to life, and helped kill Xaniv for good.
After the curse was lifted, the crew celebrated and went their separate ways. Laoch decided to create an underground safe haven for pirates, and took over the Anchorage of Whispers with her parents, Sif, and the remaining Nebula crew.
Laoch Redfield and the The Phoenix Nebula became famous across Abmarah, partly thanks to Elise writing about the Nebula's travels and the story of them saving the world from Xaniv in great detail.
