Volrath Steelefist was a member of the Phanden Four party. A devout paladin of Jakuna, he was raised by the church and came to be seen as a folk hero in Skion and Førland especially after his role in bringing down the dragon Cryovain.
Biography
Early Life
Volrath's hometown is a desolate cold port town in the Far North called Whither. During one harsh winter storm, no ships could come to dock and provide resources.
Volrath and his family would have starved had it not been for the Church of Jakuna braving the storm to give them aid. He was inspired to join them right then. When he came of age, he joined the Church and studied history and religion. Swearing an Oath of Deovtion, he had finally earned the title of Paladin. Since it was a time of peace in Skion, he was sent out into the world to do good and carry out the will of the Lawkeeper by helping others and erradicating evil.
He traveled for years, learning about the world and discovering his role in it. He wanted to have his one big triumph so he could prove himself to the Church, and decided to take on a few missions by the Department of Dungeons.

Volrath was instrumental in the events surrounding the town of Phanden in 3E448 when the dragon Cryovain terrorized the area around Aldrigvinter. His first true test of faith came when he fought the cultist of Varkanus, Moesko. Volrath also led the diplomatic talks with the orcs and the townspeople of Phanden alike, and was the one to eventually take down the dragon Cryovain with his dragonslayer sword.

In 3E451, Volrath disappeared in the tundra north of Glisspass when trying to take down the frost giant Haska. In reality, she controlled his mind and made him a slave of her will. The next spring in 3E452, he was rescued by a party that included his old friend Velech. After they managed to free him from Haska's will and defeat her, the party now including Volrath were then ambushed by the dragon Krahloraan, the father of Cryovain. He wanted revenge on Volrath despite not caring about his son, but Volrath ended up being the one to get the final slaying hit on Krahloraan just like he did Cryovain years ago.
Later Years
Volrath continued to be a veteran mercenary-like hero in Skion and the Dragekysten even in his later years. He married a half-orc barbarian, going on adventures with her.
Timeline
3E420 - Volrath is born in Whither.
3E448 - Volrath is hired by the Department of Dungeons to go to the town of Phanden to investiate the arrival of a white dragon named Cryovain, leading to the events of Dragon of Icespire Peak and the dragon's eventual defeat.
3E451 - Volrath Steelefist disappears into the tundra north of Glisspass, looking for a frost giant village as the winter sets in.
3E452 - The following spring, he is rescued during the events of The Search for Volrath and manages to take down the white dragon Krahloraan.
