Aasimar

Aasimar are generally similar to their regular D&D counterparts as found in the Player's Handbook. They are a planetouched race, and are the celestial alternative to Tieflings.

They were often, but not always, descended from celestials and other creatures of pure good alignment, but while predisposed to good alignments, aasimar were by no means always good.

Aasimar are generally derived from human bloodlines, and in the broadest possible sense, they still look like humans or whatever race their parents were. However, their celestial heritage has left a clear imprint on their appearance. Nearly all aasimar were uncommonly beautiful and still, and they were often significantly taller than humans as well.

While several aasimar were immediately identifiable as such, others were even less distinguishable than tieflings from their human ancestors, commonly standing out with only one unusual feature. Most aasimar had pupil-less pale white, gray, or golden eyes and silver hair, but those descended from planetars could also have emerald skin, while those descended from avoral celestials might have feathers mixed in with their hair. Those descended from ghaeles often had pearly opalescent eyes. Solar-descended aasimars often had brilliant topaz eyes instead or silvery or golden skin and those with couatl or lillend lineage most commonly had small, iridescent scales.

Many aasimar also had a light covering of feathers on their shoulders, where an angel's wings might sprout. As in tieflings, aasimar bloodlines could sometimes run dormant for generations, reemerging after being hidden for some time.

Aasimar of Abmarah

Aasimar are the race formed from the blessed touch of Celestials onto any of the mortal races, most often humans. They are an outsider-touched race connected to the upper planes, and have little culture of their own in Abmarah. That being said, Aasimar children are often hunted by cults and evil beings for their divine blood.

There are three "subraces" of aasimar, but it is possible for an aasimar to transform from one to another, as they generally reflect the aasimar's disposition. These subraces are:

Protector Aasimar. Protector aasimar, as the name suggests, are driven to protect others and to face down threats in the service of good. Protector aasimar are often wise, and are capable of sprouting glowing, magical wings, capable of flight, from their backs for a brief period of time per day. They use the Aasimar statistics as presented in Player's Handbook 2024, or the Aasimar (Protector) statistics as presented in Volo's Guide to Monsters.

Scourge Aasimar. Scourge aasimar are often hardy, and feel an intense need to destroy all that is evil. They are filled with a radiant energy that they can unleash upon others, but this energy burns enemies, allies, and the scourge aasimar themselves alike. They use the Aasimar statistics as presented in Player's Handbook 2024, or the Aasimar (Scourge) statistics as presented in Volo's Guide to Monsters.

Fallen Aasimar. Fallen aasimar have often come into contact with evil influences that have turned their nature towards darkness. They are often strong, and while they, like the protector aasimar, can manifest wings, those wings are flightless, featherless, and serve only to scare others and drain their life force. They use the Aasimar statistics as presented in Player's Handbook 2024, or the Aasimar (Fallen) statistics as presented in Volo's Guide to Monsters.
