The Colpz'hal are an extraterrestrial race of avians found deep beyond Voidspace on the planet Yahink'n. Informally, they are often referred to as the Birdcrabs by other races.
The Colpz'hal are long-limbed crab-like avians, and have the biological ability to hover using innate psionics. While their upper bodies don't look too different from Aven, their lower bodies have six to eight legs. Their large size makes them tower above most humanoids, with the smallest subspecies still being 7ft tall and the largest nearly upto 15ft.
They have many subspecies that have specialized for different terrains and landscapes. Little is known about their society beyond the few travelers found across the Astral Sea, as they tend to keep to themselves.
The subraces of Colpz'hal are:
Paiz'hal. They are the most numerous subrace of the Colpz'hal, with blue-green features that blend in with their coastal abodes. They are the most common Colpz'hal seen across the Astral Sea, and are known to be more friendly than most others of their kind and extremely adaptable to new environments.
Croz'hal. Crow-like with dark black and red feathers, the Croz'hal are most known for their wizardry and arcane intuitiveness. While most others of their kind rely on psionics, the Croz'hal prefer the arcane.
Tohz'hal. Known to live around volcanoes and deserts, the red-orange-yellow hued Tohz'hal are hyperactive and have innate fire-based abilities. Many of them are found within the Plane of Fire.
Jaez'hal. The smallest subrace, the Jaez'hal are known for their green-purple feathers and jungle homes. The forest-dwellers tend to use druidic magic to maintain their intricate ecosystems.
Maez'hal. The terrifyingly huge Maez'hal have white-gray feathers, and tower above even the others of their kind. Little is known about them as they tend to live secluded from other Colpz'hal, but many of them have been known to use necromancy and worship dark gods. A few have even been found within the Shadowfell.
