Minotaurs in Abmarah are vastly different from other settings and their origins in hellenic mythologies but share some similar aspects. Minotaurs of Abmarah are not actually among the Beastborn, and instead draw their origins to the fey-magic and divine intervention as they were said to have been created by the goddess Noshmi who cursed a group of humans with bestial features when they refused to give up their harvest to her. This origin story is shared with the centaurs, although their accounts of the tale differ.
Minotaurs reach maturity by the age of 20, and can live to be upto 150 years old. Minotaurs are a civilized, common, and proud species who mostly reside in the western Rethi Riverbank and make up the majority population of the city of Dibayad. They assume the culture of the cities they grow up in, and many leave the Kav’orra in search of adventure. Minotaur women are respected as spiritual leaders within Ashtadharma, while minotaur men are seen as great warriors and strategists. While cultural opinions differ from place to place, on a whole minotaurs tend to be polygamist with true marriage only practiced by their nobility. Minotaurs have developed a deep-seated rivalry with the panshera after thousands of years of forced co-existence with them around the riverbank.
