Aven, also known as the Aveborn, are a race of birdfolk in Abmarah. They were created in the Beastbirth alongside most other beast races through the god Omegus. Despite their similarity, the Kenku are not actually Aven, although they might have originated as such.
Kappos is considered to be the patron god of Aven, alongside the minor god of writing Pingos. Aven culture is different depending on what continent they are on, as the ones on Eteru have a very different culture compared to the ones on Eqos.
They have a smaller lifespan as compared to Humans, growing up quickly and dying comparatively young.
They have three major subraces:
Raptorin. Generally similar to eagles, hawks, vultures, and most other birds of prey. Sequestered in high mountains atop tall trees, they generally tend to stay in small tribal groups. They use the Aarakocra statistics as presented in Monsters of the Multiverse.
Ibisin. Generally similar to birds like ibises, flamingoes, and most other wading birds. They were mostly found in Eqos and tend to assimilate into local cultures. They use the Aven (Ibis-Headed) statistics as presented in Planet Shift: Amonkhet.
Owlin. Generally similar to most types of owls, Owlin come in many shapes and sizes, from petite and fluffy to wide-winged and majestic. They are often related to arcana and knowledge. They use the Owlin statistics as presented in Strixhaven: A Curriculum of Chaos.
