As the party climbs up the ladder to engage in combat they spot Saheila a blindfolded woman fighting off 6 magisters.
During the fight, the party discovered that Saheila possesses Source, while also not wearing a collar. She was able to help remove the magical collars from the party, through spectral leopards connected to her.
The party also experienced the effects of Source, receiving a mysterious blue aura and gaining access to greater power.
With Saheila's source use, also came a cost two small rifts appeared in which two void creatures emerged and fought anything in range.
The battle was extremely dangerous. Several party members were badly injured, knocked down, or nearly killed.
The party eventually defeated the remaining Void creatures and Magisters.
During the battle Brynn Lohse appeared and offered her a powerful scroll for her to use. Brynn refused and used killed one of the magisters without Lohses help.
Despite that Lohse and Brynn were talking together, Lohse, seemingly trying to convince Brynn to embrace the chaos
After the battle, Saheila collapsed and temporarily lost consciousness. Strange blue source collared veins appeared across her body before fading.
Lirithyn recognized her as someone who had previously attempted to infiltrate the Queen's palace in Yddelia.
When she recovered, Saheila explained that she was an escaped prisoner. She revealed that the creatures responsible for breaking the party's collars were once her pets and had somehow become part of her.
Her abilities and connection to Source remain mysterious.
The party learned that Saheila had been imprisoned because she attempted to warn the Queen about the instability of the rift between the Void and the world due to source magic.
Flint using spirit vision also discovered evidence of an ancient Source-based spell at the site of the battle. The spell appeared to have caused multiple deaths in the past.
Using spirit vision, Flint and Fang witnessed the spirits of dead Magisters departing and noticed mysterious magical markings fading from the ground.
The party buried the six dead Magisters in the forest to prevent their bodies from being discovered.
The party also used a clever disguise to prop the collars on their neck without fully connecting it in the back with strings.
The island appears to be heavily corrupted and dangerous. Areas such as Night Town are particularly hostile.
The party talked with Saheila about the possibilities surrounding the mysterious memory loss that prisoners are experiencing.
Several possible causes were discussed:
A spell or influence connected to High Judge Orivand
The corruption of the island itself
Something being put into the camp's food
The party suspects the food may be responsible and plans to compare people eating camp rations with those surviving on food they hunt themselves.
Flint, Fang, Brynn & Lirithyn eat the food and are not inflicted
Dawn hunts her own food, and is not afflicted
Tazzy is not a prisoner and is afflicted
Ishmara... unknown
Magisters... unknown
While travelling through the forest, the party encountered several pigs engulfed in mysterious magical flames.
The pigs were suffering, so the party killed them to end their pain. However, the flames continued burning even after the pigs were dead.
The fire:
Could not be extinguished normally
Continued burning on pieces of meat
Caused pain but did not actually consume or cook the flesh
Returned after magical attempts like absorb elements were made to suppress it
The origin of the fire remains unknown and may be connected to the island's corruption, a curse or another magical phenomenon.
During their travels, the party discovered that Sir Pip was missing.
They eventually found him trapped beneath a ladder in some ruins and rescued him.
A healing spell from Brynn triggered her Wild Magic, accidentally giving Sir Pip the ability to fly.
The party became increasingly frustrated with the amount of secrecy within the group.
Brynn revealed that she is being stalked by the demon named Lohse, who is attempting to manipulate her into making a deal.
Flint demanded that the party become more open with one another about dangerous secrets and problems they are facing.
The disappearance of Sir Pip and the hidden information within the group increased tensions.
The party eventually returned toward camp, but discovered that the Magisters were conducting a mandatory inspection.
They were checking prisoners' names and making sure their magical collars were properly attached and functioning.
The party realized their own collars were disconnected.
This created a serious problem, as being discovered without functioning collars could expose their escape and potentially lead to their capture or punishment.
The party considered several ways to conceal the problem, including illusions and attacking the magister and flee.
During the inspection, Ishmara noticed that something was wrong but chose not to expose the party.
She appears to know that their collars have been tampered with and agreed to keep quiet.
However, she expects the party to repay the favor in the future.
The party is uncertain whether she can be trusted. She may have connections to the Magisters, but she also appears to have her own reasons for wanting the party to escape the island.
For now, the party has agreed to keep their collar situation secret.
