Utancia is a young but thriving kingdom, established in the year 1500 when waves of mining and craftsperson guilds migrated from the southern continent of Lomiindor. Over the past centuries, its government has been shaped by powerful trade and crafting guilds, creating a society where industry and invention flourish. Despite the structured governance, the right connections and coin can allow certain overlooked activities to persist—especially in the fields of experimental magic and alchemy.
Utancia lies on the southernmost region of Gyte, with the ocean running along its entire southern border. To the west, it shares Nyruss Bay with The Lewihbolan Republic, a key region for naval trade and smuggling routes. The massive mountain range The Rafobic Peaks on its western sea border is a hotspot for mining operations, controlled by various competing companies.
A mix of Mediterranean (Csa) and Oceanic (Cfb) climates, with warm, dry summers and mild, wet winters, especially along the coasts.

Guild-Run Republic – The government is not ruled by a monarch or a single ruling council, but rather by a coalition of powerful trade and craft guilds. Every major industry has representation, and political power shifts based on economic influence. While this system allows artisans, miners, and merchants to thrive, it also means bureaucracy is dense, and bribery—while not legal—is an open secret.
The foundation of Utancia began as an economic migration from Lomiindor in the early 1500s, when miners and craftspeople sought untapped resources and new markets. Settlements rapidly expanded along the coast and mountains, and trade boomed. Without a noble class, guilds became the de facto rulers, establishing a government where economic strength equaled political influence.
By the late 1600s, Salo had grown into a major administrative center, with guild halls, patent offices, and arbitration courts controlling nearly every aspect of life. While innovation flourished, so did political maneuvering, as different guilds competed for dominance in trade, mining rights, and magical research.
By the 1800s, Utancia became a haven for inventors, alchemists, and rogue wizards whose ideas were often too dangerous or unconventional for other lands. While the government does not openly support illegal activities, guilds can be bribed to look the other way, and those with the right connections can experiment freely in private. The kingdom remains a thriving hub of industry and invention, though whispers of questionable ethics and secret projects follow in its wake.
Utancia is dominated by its western mountain range, where mining settlements, tunnels, and deep caverns form a labyrinth of industry. These mountains contain valuable ores, gemstones, and other rare minerals, making them one of the most contested and economically vital regions.
The coastal regions to the south host shipyards, trade ports, and fishing villages, creating a thriving maritime economy. Many of these ports also serve as gateways to the black market, where smugglers deal in contraband, exotic materials, and experimental magical artifacts.
To the north and east, the land transitions into fertile plains and rolling hills, where smaller farming communities support the massive urban centers. While agriculture is not the kingdom’s primary focus, it sustains the miners, blacksmiths, and artisans who make up most of the population.
Utancia’s guild-run republic is composed of a ruling council made up of the most influential trade guilds. Each major guild elects representatives, who negotiate policies, trade laws, and industrial regulations. The most powerful guilds include:
Kragheart Union – Controls mining rights, resource extraction, and metal distribution.
The Obsidian Hammer – A coalition of smiths, forgemasters, and metallurgists producing the finest weapons and armor.
Aetherforge Consortium – A powerful group overseeing magical research, enchanted item creation, and experimental alchemy.
Scale & Tally Compact – Manages trade, tariffs, and commercial agreements with foreign nations.
The Saltborn Assembly – Controls shipbuilding, naval trade, and privateer contracts.
The system encourages innovation but also creates fierce rivalries, with political power shifting based on economic trends. While not fully corrupt, laws are flexible for those with wealth, and a well-placed bribe can make problems disappear.
