The Sea Goddess was sent to live in the sea to help care for it with the water spirits, and the Moon Goddess was sent up in the darkened sky to help look after the celestial bodies and the spirits they contain. And the Land Goddess was sent to care for those who roamed the land with the other spirits, and to help humanity.

It is said that when the sun would sink below the horizon, the Moon Goddess and the Sea Goddess often played so cheerfully in the night, allowing the Sea and Skies to clash into the most beautiful displays of sparkling lights. They loved one another deeply; their union was one of joy and happiness and nothing ever came between the two.

But when the sea clashed within the sky at night, the waters retreated from the lands, and the lands grew bigger, standing dry and alone. And the Land Goddess grew resentful of their union and the beauty of their love. So, one day, while they were fast asleep, the Land Goddess drove a knife between their bodies and with a deep gash, they separated the pair forever. Upon awakening, the Sea Goddess, seeing what had transpired rose up in a swell of anger and grief. They flooded the world as they attempted to reach up towards their lover in the sky. So fierce was their desire that the Land Goddess struggled to save their own domain and managed only to lift up a few islands.

But it was too late, and the Sea Goddess and Moon Goddess never managed to reunite. Thus, the Moon Goddess has filled the sky with beautiful stars and hangs down low within the moon reaching forever down. The Sea Goddess forever follows their trail across the sky pulling the seas along reflecting the beauty of the sky.
