The Sky Deity, whose domain was up within the skies rarely involved themself with the goings on of that which happened below. Their duty was completely devoted to the creation, protection and continuance of the Weave – the Weave of Time, Space and Magic.

The Earth Deity’s domain was that of all living beings that roamed the world – the earth, the plants, the animals. They nurtured life into the world and created the sentient beings to help tend the small floating gardens that filled it.

The Water Deity role was one of strength and their duty was the protection of the world – ever shifting nature made them unpredictable and ever-watchful. Like the other domains their domain was filled with life, but also filled with anxiety, borne from a desire to keep everyone safe, and a growing thirst for stability.

Then one day, they spoke to a Sea Creature. This Sea Creature was always looking for more space to conquer for its own kingdom below the sea, despite the vastness of the Sea of Constant Drift. It had already sent out animals across the lands. Animals that could breathe both in water and outside. Animals that could swim and walk. But the Sea Creature was not satisfied, and it had recently set their eyes to the vast expanse of the sky.

It was this Sea Creature who argued that the best way to protect all is to not only envelop the gardens of the Earth Deity, but to cover and engulf the skies above so that water would be everywhere and able to protect its siblings and all creations.

And so, the Water Deity rose up into the sky and tried to fill the heavens with crashing waves and currents. Seeing what was happening, the Earth Deity rushed forward and held on to the Sea before it drowned the sky and destroyed their floating lands.

And where they held the Sea, there tethered new, permanent lands that do not move and offer stability to the Water Deity. They are lands to which they can crash into in moments of doubt, anxiety or fear, and be reassured by their solidity and unmoving nature.
