The party were tasked with finding the entrance to the temple. Find out who the cultists are and what do they want with the temple. Who is the temple dedicated too, is this good or bad.
While sailing to New Haven there was a large body of black pod like seeds drifting on the wind. Four of these pods landed on the ship and when tampered with exploded and the out falling seeds started to feed on the wood. The party managed to destroy the seeds, apart from one which was trapped in a large cooking pot.
Once back the Island. From the Widow (an Elf Druid) they learn that the cult now present are not the Old Moon Cult from the past. These are called the “Black Sword”.
When they reached the cave, they found a hidden door and by using a Boom stick (Dynamite) they had seen an utterly black void. Bravely they entered and were transported to the Temple or rather a large hall within the temple. Sitting in a throne was a humanoid figure seeming to talk yet no sound was heard.
A strange aperture was placed before them; it showed a scene like a moving painting. A large sailing ship with strange looking figures on board. Then the ship was sailing fast over the water and then lifted itself from the waves and into the sky. Next the scene was inside the ship with these strange looking humanoids looking at charts. The scene changed again, and it showed a Moon with the sailing ship passing in from of it. Once the scene was finished the figure pointed to plinths and written in Common was a riddle.
The party after some thinking managed to answer the riddle and once they placed the object on the plinth the light colour changed and after a staged contest of fighting against a cultist then a large snake James won and was offered an Axe of warning. They were then transported back to the village.
This a cult devoted to “Levistus” the archdevil who rules Stygia. The sixth layer of the Nine Hells. Most of the Cultist are from the Icewind Dale. A frozen island in frozen seas. They gave their soul to serve Levistus. Also observed that when killed the body becomes entombed in ice, this can’t be damaged, lasts for 9 days. Apparently, the cultist comes back to serve again.
Drifting on the air, if damaged they explode, and the seeds seem to attack any organic life. It was discovered to have a Narcotic damage. Easy to damage with
