Major cities

Context

Kildar has seven major cities. Once, there were more, but the destruction of Torrica during the events of the Crimson Dusk, as well as the destruction of Rhyl and the conquest of S'raku during the Lords' Alliance invasion, has reduced their number. All the other cities were also affected by the war, and the capital, Stormhaven, suffered a major blow as well. Although Stormhaven survived, it was in no position to remain the capital. The new capital of Kildar is Arland.

These seven cities, listed in descending order of population, form the backbone of Kildar today:

Arland – Initially an elf-inspired city of magic, beauty, and art. Today, due to the extensive damage suffered by Stormhaven and the growing interest of the Lords' Alliance, Arland has become the new capital of Kildar. It now has two very different faces: the old elvish district and a new district governed by the Lords' Alliance, reflecting their philosophy of magical control.

Il-Heban – Once a humble trade outpost in the desert, Il-Heban has been transformed by its halfling sultan into a flourishing center of agriculture and knowledge. It is famed for its Hanging Gardens, the Grand Il-Heban University, and its unrivaled information networks.

Anfyn – The city of goblins, sworn in loyalty to Lady Elaine. They wage a relentless crusade against all who would enslave others. Recently, this region was caught up in the civil war.

Teristraz – Home to the descendants of Sova Medvedov, whose people united Kildar under one banner. Bound to their old traditions, they dominate the seas with both skill and fear.

Ironhold – After the destruction of Rhyl, it is the last dwarvish city. It gained considerable influence after the war, however many nobles had to leave, including the leader - Sevetar Mason.

Stormhaven – The former capital of Kildar. Today, it is only a shadow of what it once was, essentially serving as a border city between the territories of the Lords' Alliance and the chaos caused by the goblins in the south.

Brell – A city still scarred by the Torrica explosion, where raw magic lingers in the air. Spellcasters from across Kildar flock here, though many are far from virtuous. The Lords' Alliance considers it a strategic location due to the local production of magic suppressors.

There is also the state and fortress of Eir-Andusk, which does not belong to the Lords' Alliance and serves as the base of operations for the remnants of the previous government.

There are some changes happening across the whole Kildar. First of all, Lords' Alliance invoked "The Responsible Use of Magic decrees", which basically requires all spellcasters to be registered. This can be done usually at the school of magic or at the local Tribunal. The second thing, trying to protect normal people from the magic harm, Lords' Alliance sets up Magic suppressors at the major cities, especially int the places where many people gather at once.
