Seyrik is the single orange star of the Kelmar System, the seven-planet homeland of the Mahruni. The system lies in the Cygnus Spur of the Sagittarius Arm. Kelmar, its third planet, holds most of the population. Lunar settlements, rotating habitats, mines, refineries and naval stations extend Mahruni society across the system. The self-governing Protectorate of Kelmar administers this territory within the strategic sphere of Helios.
Seyrik is a mature K1 V star with an estimated mass of 1.67 × 10³⁰ kilograms, radius of 661,000 kilometres and luminosity of 2.18 × 10²⁶ watts. Its effective temperature is about 5,150 kelvin. Approximately 7 billion Cycles old, it provides a long-lived environment with comparatively subdued magnetic activity. Stellar wind and occasional energetic particle events remain hazards to spacecraft and exposed installations.
From the star outward lie Vareth, Nerys, Kelmar, Daskel, the Varak Belt, Tervos, Rheskar, Orneth and the outer icy belt. Orbital figures below are approximate. A standard hour contains 3,600 seconds; a Cycle contains 31,553,280 seconds and 1,000 millicycles.
Vareth circles Seyrik at about 16.5 million kilometres in 348 standard hours. Its mass is approximately 2.51 × 10²⁴ kilograms and its radius 4,590 kilometres. Bare rock, ancient volcanic plains and impact craters lie beneath an extremely tenuous exosphere. Incoming radiation approaches 64,000 watts per square metre, with a representative radiative-equilibrium temperature around 700 kelvin. Robotic mines and solar-powered industry endure conditions unsuitable for unprotected habitation.
Nerys orbits at about 47.9 million kilometres in 1,730 standard hours. Its mass is approximately 5.14 × 10²⁴ kilograms and radius 6,050 kilometres. Dense carbon dioxide and sulphurous gases create a crushing greenhouse atmosphere over basalt plains and volcanic uplands. Specialized orbital processing, remote surveys and high-temperature laboratories exploit resources that are expensive to reach. No complex indigenous biosphere is known.
Kelmar orbits at about 124 million kilometres and completes an orbit in approximately 0.82535 Cycle (7,234 standard hours). Its mass is near 7.05 × 10²⁴ kilograms, radius about 6,690 kilometres and surface gravity about 10.5 metres per second squared. A 27-hour rotation and 24-degree axial tilt produce regular days and substantial seasons.
Liquid oceans cover roughly 62% of the surface. The global mean temperature is about 8 °C, yet tropical forests, savannas, dry steppe, deserts, temperate woodland, tundra and polar ice all occur. The substantial atmosphere protects much of the surface despite a weak planetary magnetic field. Kelmar's cities, industry and living ecosystems sustain the rest of the system.
Ishra, its principal moon, is about 2,900 kilometres across and orbits approximately 340,000 kilometres from the planet in 504 standard hours. Ancient basalts and permanently shadowed polar cold traps support mining, engineering and astronomy. Mahruni established permanent lunar installations before the protectorate compact.
Daskel is a frozen rocky planet at about 242 million kilometres, with an orbital period of 19,721 standard hours, approximately 2.25 Cycles. Its mass is near 2.87 × 10²⁴ kilograms and radius about 5,220 kilometres. Ice-cemented terrain, impact basins and old cryovolcanic features make it an important water and propellant reserve. Pressure-sealed compounds house refineries, fuel exchanges and engineering schools. Two small irregular moons, Vereth and Kor, provide staging sites.
The Varak Belt extends from roughly 329 to 464 million kilometres. Great empty distances separate its rocky, metallic and water-bearing bodies. Yelka, a dwarf planet about 1,100 kilometres across, has extensive underground settlements. Metal-rich Padris is about 430 kilometres across; drilling, foundries and mass drivers work its deposits. Soreth, a dark body about 700 kilometres across, supports water extraction and the belt's largest independent ship-repair complex.
Varak's settlements remain under Mahruni administration. Helios vessels purchase minerals, fuel and repair services commercially.
Tervos, at about 561 million kilometres, completes an orbit in 7.92 Cycles. Its mass is near 5.97 × 10²⁶ kilograms and radius about 60,500 kilometres. Pale cloud bands, storms and bright icy rings surround the giant. Its many moons include Orvak, a 4,600-kilometre ice-rock world with a subsurface reservoir and intermittent plumes, and fractured Iren, about 1,800 kilometres across. Rotating stations support volatile extraction and refuelling amid a complex radiation environment.
Rheskar orbits approximately 1.26 billion kilometres from Seyrik in 26.56 Cycles. With a mass near 3.28 × 10²⁶ kilograms and radius near 35,000 kilometres, it presents a blue-grey atmosphere shaped by methane and haze. Milor, about 3,100 kilometres across, and irregular Isken, about 900 kilometres across, support research and engineering outposts. Habitation centres on moons and artificial stations.
Orneth is a muted blue ice giant at about 2.44 billion kilometres, taking 71.8 Cycles to orbit. Its mass is near 1.02 × 10²⁶ kilograms and radius about 24,500 kilometres. Vaska, its principal inhabited moon, is about 1,500 kilometres across and holds research domes, volatile stores and a long-baseline observatory.
Icy bodies extend broadly from 4.04 to 8.98 billion kilometres, with a scattered population beyond. Nareth is a dark, irradiated dwarf planet about 2,100 kilometres across at roughly 6.28 billion kilometres. Kelkun, about 800 kilometres across, follows an eccentric orbit. Remote detector arrays, specialized extraction and scientific expeditions operate along thin supply routes.
The Mahruni built and successfully operated an indigenous interstellar-capable jump drive while still confined to their home system. That achievement made their civilization Tier 2 before Helios conquered it.
Helios subsequently supplied access to its transport fleets and gate network. The Seyrik Gate follows a maintained orbit about 180 million kilometres from the star and links the system to the wider Helios network. Openings are scheduled; the gate can sustain a transit aperture for roughly thirty minutes. Ordinary voyages between planets still require acceleration, braking, fuel planning and tolerable crew loads.
Mahruni clans maintain chapters and institutional interests across these settlements, recruiting members from all five castes through competitive selection. Every clan is governed by its Warriors, while Scholar, Artificer, Merchant and Laborer members sustain its professional and economic activities. A clan can operate in several locations without acquiring sovereignty over their inhabitants. Mining, engineering and transport settlements provide opportunities for specialist members whose work strengthens a clan's standing.
The Protectorate of Kelmar raises domestic revenue to maintain its public institutions and infrastructure. Helios supplies strategic protection, interstellar transport and gate access in exchange for universal military service from twenty to twenty-five Cycles. Approximately fifteen per cent of conscripts remain on duty within Seyrik and eighty-five per cent serve elsewhere. Mothers with dependent young receive duties within the home-service allocation that allow them to continue raising their offspring. The compact requires no fiscal tax or transfer of mineral rights to Helios.
Local defence includes serving conscripts, volunteer veterans, patrol fleets, orbital sensors, military depots and planetary installations. All castes contribute according to their skills, while permanent Warrior caste standing requires military qualification beyond completion of the levy. Clan affiliations remain subordinate to the operational chain of command. Defence forces protect stations, convoys and settlement infrastructure throughout Seyrik.
