The mysterious island of Falrenn, lies to the north-west of the lands of Noctis. A place of wild forests, boggy ground and clawing mists.
The peoples of the isle are considered savage by many for their tribal existence, but are in fact a complex society of family, tribe and chief.
The seven great tribes are:
The Maelvar - The smallest of the tribes, they live close to the water and subsist on fishing whaling
The Aeslinga - Once the most powerful tribe on Falrenn, before the folly of King Caelwyn “the Moonmarked" led to the tribes decline
The Cernathi - A pastoral people who herd livestock across the rolling hills of eastern Falrenn
The Belenor - The reclusive tribe of the western lands, they practice shamanism, like much of the isle, but their connection to the forces of nature, through their druids, is stronger than most.
The Dunmorach - The current hegemons of Falrenn, from their protected hillforts and secluded valleys, High King Brannoc exacts tribute from many of the other tribes in the land.
The Moirach - If any denizens of Falrenn can be called savage, it is the Moirach. Living as they do in the boggy marshlands beneath the Mountains of Mor, their mean existence is punctuated by ritualistic raiding of their neighbours and human sacrifice to the giants of Ard Gorm, whom they worship as gods.
The Frodari - As a counter point to the Moirach, the Frodari refused to bend the knee to the giants. Instead choosing to defy them. Nurturing a warlike culture out of necessity, the great giant slayers of the Talbane Clan hail from this tribe.
Due in part to its remote location, and the relatively sparse population, the lands of Falrenn have been a sanctuary for all manner of Fey creatures. The vast forests, untouched by the hands of man, are protected by powerful spirits and beings found in few other places in the world. Having little love for the humans, they guard their lands fiercely.
Twenty years ago, the seclusion of Falrenn was shattered by the arrival of men from the mainland. Settlers from the lands of Havarrlan sailed up river, displacing the local populace and founding the town of Vargheim.
Plagued by lycanthropes and monstrous wolves that inhabit the eastern side of the Forest of Druinmor, the town has grown slowly and refuses to die. It's long term impact on Falrenn is yet to be realised.
