Black Dragon

The Black Dragon was Vultha, considered a god of death by many. They hunt instead of fight, bursting from swamplands, disguises or woodland cover and thrashing their opponents apart before they get a chance to fight back. They draw pleasure from the hunt and the kill, often stalking powerful opponents and driving them to paranoia before they strike. Black dragons can sometimes be found in the criminal underworld, acting as assassins, the kind only the desperate hire.

A black dragons lair is most often a flooded or seaside cave, likely expanded by dissolving away the walls. These lairs are often home to poisonous vermin who consume the rotting bodies of the dragons victims. Those who brave the fetid waters of the lair can find an inner sanctum, a sump connecting to a dry cave where the dragon will have placed it's hoard. Artifacts of fallen empires or powerful figures are preferred, reminders to them that death takes everyone... or at least, everyone else.
