Any character may use any weapon.
Weapons listed under a class are considered Trained Weapons.
When using a weapon you are trained with:
Add the appropriate ability modifier to damage rolls.
You may score Critical Blows or Critical Hits with the weapon.
The appropriate modifier depends on the weapon.

When using a weapon you are not trained with:
Penalty |

The weapon misses on a damage roll of 1 or 2. (1,2 and 3 for range weapons as range). |
You cannot score Critical Blows with the weapon. |
You may still use the weapon normally unless it has the Heavy property. |
If another rule would also increase the weapon’s miss range, use the worse miss range. Do not stack miss ranges unless the Referee rules the attack is especially difficult.
Heavy weapons require specialized training.
When using a Heavy weapon you are not trained with:

Heavy crossbows require specialized training.
When using a Heavy Crossbow you are not trained with:
