The Sand Chasers are a nomadic tribal clan that live in the central Kav’orra Desert. Mostly consisting of dune orcs with some humans and other races mixed in, they are known as raiders and bandits by the civilians that reside in Ammba, Mem’mala, and Wa’sadak. The Sand Chasers are named because of their raiding tactic- they follow caravans and victims from far away, chasing sandstorms. When the sandstorm hits their unsuspecting victims, the orcs ride in on their camels or rhinos and destroy all they can see, taking with them any jewels, riches, food, and especially water. The Sena has tried to eliminate them, but have failed to accurately find their home or apprehend any of the orcs.
They are more active on the road between Kasaaq and Ammba going through Wa’sadak, and have been a thorn in the side of House Kawar for centuries. The people of the cities believe the Sand Chasers to be barbaric and dumb, but many traders and mercenaries end up befriending Sand Chasers and learn about their culture and ways of dealing with the harshness of the desert. Most Sand Chasers are covered from head to toe in loose white garments. While most use scimitars or axes, some stronger orcs within the clan have begun to use muskets that they acquired from victims.
The Sand Chasers are divided in their goals and ambitions. Many of them are happy with their way of life, and simply want to take what they can from merchants and caravans and live off of the land. Others want to settle down and possibly integrate with the rest of society, tired of scavenging for basic necessities like food. The orcs worship Murudev, who is the patron god of the race. The faithful want to maintain their culture of might-makes-right, while others want to be more diplomatic with the Kav’orran people. Some of the more peaceful members are often called ‘weak’ and exiled from the clan, who end up settling down in the various cities.
The more radicalized Chasers try with all their might to sabotage the construction of a train line between Kasaaq and Ammba, and will hunt down any artificers or engineers trying to build the tracks. They know that their way of life would only work so far as they are able to hunt down people in wagons or on mounts, and that their own mounts would never be able to catch up to or realistically take down a steam locomotive.
The Sand Chasers are the bane of merchants and caravans traveling across the Kav’orra, especially those near the city of Ammba. House Kawar has hired many adventurers and mercenaries to try and destroy the Sand Chasers, as they are the biggest obstacle in their aim of connecting the desert via rail.
